If I understand your question the answer is no. What your doing is file transfer. You are not opening the file in a program and then saving the file. You can transfer files, make multiple copies of .jpg files, even archive files to the cloud or an external hard drive without ever opening that file. As long as the file is not corrupted its still exactly the same file, and if the file were corrupted it probably would not be readable anyway.

Thank you. That answers the question I meant to ask, even if I didn’t ask it clearly!

Ok, so I shoot jpeg. At this point in life, I’m lucky to get the pics to a website where they can be seen and off the camera. I’m a mom taking pics of family and my kids activities. When I download/upload, I go to a couple of places. From card to external hard drive, from card to Shutterfly, and from card to Flickr. Does this degrade my jpeg each time? I mean, is my original on the card degraded? So if I go from card to External hard drive, then card to shutterfly, then card to Flickr, had is degraded 3 Times? Or just one time since I go back to the card to get the image? I’m not even sure my question makes sense. Hopefully someone can figure it out.

Like rolanddeiter, I do photo books. Week, scrapbooks. With cutting and pasting and writing the story of the picture on the page. I have a couple of a grandmother’s books, and I think it’s meaningful to have her handwriting as well. I’m currently going through hundreds of my MIL’s pics. Will be putting those prints in albums as well, without the stories as she is not able to tell them anymore. A quick note: PLEASE do NOT write in the back of a print with an ink pen. I have so many that the writing bled through. Great-I know who it is they have their name backwards across their face.

Take coffee and donuts to bribe the officials... I was able to get out on the tack for the Southern Cal Speed Timing races at El Mirage Dry Lake and shoot the cars approaching head on. The official replied, "oh well,,, it's your camera, not mine."

Or ask if your tripod can be ahead of the archer and fire remotely.

I keep saying I’m going to get some clear riot shields and stand by the targets, or poke my lens out from the back curtain. They are pretty sticky as we are shooting in schools and any negative publicity would probably get the programs cancelled quickly unfortunately.

That's a tricky one! I like the firing remotely idea. Do you have any primes? Shooting in a gym is going to be tough lighting wise.

I have a 50mm 1.8 prime. Hadn’t thought of trying that because I’m usually zoomed out on my other one. I’ll do that this weekend and see. Gym lighting has been a huge issue.

Hi! New to the sports forum. I’m a mom trying to get good shots of my kids and the rest of the team. I just got a Nikon D7200 with the Tamron 18-400 lens for Christmas. (Passed the D3200 on to my 13 y/o) Right now the sport is Archery. In a gym. National Archery in the Schools Program if anyone is familiar with it. LOTS of safety rules. Basically, I can only shoot photos from a few feet behind the line or archers. Looking for suggestions from others who have maybe shot similar situations.

Photo books are so easy to make online now. I’m still in the cut and paste scrapbooking mode, and I love doing that. One thing I have really appreciated, along with photos I have from grandparents, etc, is a few scrapbooks. Not only are the people and events named and dated, by it is done in my grandmothers handwriting. She passed away 10 years ago.

I’m looking at all these straps and thinking it may be time to move up from the Nikon that comes with the camera. Especially now that my daughter has her own camera and won’t be taking mine off my neck all the time :-) Are some of these in stock at places like Dodd camera so I can check them out in person?

We are dealing with dementia/Alzheimer’s with my mil right now. These made me laugh. We joke way too frequently and probably quite inappropriately within our family. It’s how we keep from getting angry or crying. Thanks for the humor!

My husband made me open my Christmas gift yesterday. Nikon D7200 And Tamron 18-400. Got it just in time to charge up the battery and head out to my daughter’s archery tournament. Big learning curve from the d3400 I’ve had for the past couple of years. Now I have to find it (daughter hid it because I said I have to sell it to pay for the new one) and hide it from her as it’s her Christmas gift.
With all that background that has nothing to do with my question: I’m looking for a guide to pair with the manual which I’ve just finished reading. I had the Magic Lantern for the 3400 and it was great for me. Are there better ones for the 7200? What recommendations do you guys have?

Merry early Christmas!! Enjoy! I’m looking to upgrade the D3200 and pass it on to my daughter. I’m leaning toward the 7500 but I wasn’t sure how much better is is than the 7100 or 7200.

I grew up in a small town near Rochester NY. It seemed most of the adults I knew drove the hour to work at either Kodak or Xerox at the time. My grandfather worked for Kodak. He passed away in 1975 and my grandmother received pension benefits from Kodak for years after his passing.

I've had my WD for a few years. Bought it for the same reason-to upload from anywhere. Couldn't figure it out and gave up. I thought it was just me being computer illiterate. Not glad you're having issues, but glad I'm not the only one :-) Following this thread to see if someone has a good response!

Anyone with experience with Amazon photo? I have prime and they offer a free storage service. I haven't looked into it a lot yet.

I originally used Kodak Gallery and was thrilled when Shutterfly and KG migrated all my photos to Shutterfly. I've recently started to use Flickr as I'm sharing many pictures with my kids' activity groups. I have different accounts for different activities and allow some of the other people to upload as well. That way they can download pics that they want without having to buy prints. Getting ready to do this with family as well, so my parents can look at all our pics easily.
