I agree with your assertion that there are many new features and technological advancements in mirrorless units.

I doubt they would do much for me. I have four older Nikon DSLR bodies and a cadre of kit and expensive glass as well. Over the years, I've noticed my captures have gotten better and better with time, independent of technology. With that in mind, I'll switch when tech is my limiting factor which I think may never be, only my eyes, my imagination and my vision will be.

Three of my four Nikon DSLRs are refurbished and have performed flawlessly. All were bought from Adorama.

Like some others, I like the Think Tank Speed Freak for a lot of trips. Also, for auto travel and the like, a Pelican Storm case with velcro dividers is compact and indestructible.

Stick with Adorama and B&H. You'll never have a problem.

Looking for a used Fujifilm X20 or X30 reasonably priced and in VG to Excellent condition. Boxes and packaging don't matter. I'm just looking for a solid working unit.

Welcome Chris! I live in Rose Hill, Texas outside of Tomball. I've driven through Waco many times while I was working at clients in Dallas. Waco was among the top 5 tourist destinations in Texas according to Texas Highways. I must be dense, but what is in Waco that would be of interest to a photographer and/or a family day or weekend trip?
I would appreciate the direction from a proud resident! God bless Texas.

Based on my travel experiences, I would take the 24-70 and leave the rest at home. Yu will shoot more with less and have more fun.

Your points are quite valid. The current manufacturing/marketing strategy is to constantly introduce product obsolescence/upgrades into the market to create churn and ultimately new product sales. If your common sense approach were employed, most enthusiasts would keep their cameras for years without upgrades, and they would actually learn to use them to their potential. A trip back to the 1960s-70s would be refreshing! I am done with the buying cycle. I am keeping what I have and I will wring out all I can out of them. My glass should last me for the next 20 years.

It's a 58 Impala. I have a couple of great classics, but this is my fantasy car. There are very few out there (1958 was a recession year), and they are now priced well out of my reach until my son graduates medical school and goes into practice. He is in 6th grade.

The digital age has enables us to capture infinitely more images than we ever made during our film years. Billions of photos per day are taken with "smart" phones alone. With our phones and digital cameras, we take captures in volumes we would have never in film due to cost, and we do it without much thought at times. Remember how carefully we would shoot (subject, composition, lighting, aperture, shutter, ISA etc.) Kodachrome, Fuji film and even Tri-X compared to the snap-happy way we approach photography. Mediocrity is unavoidable unless we are more deliberate in our form. Likewise, we need to master the digital tools we have rather than chasing the next new model. I've been guilty of buying new body before mastering the previous model, but no more. My best images have been completely independent of the tool used!
