I sure can on my Nikon cameras. I suppose you think I'm not very funny, though.

Why do those people who have a choice in a system that still has DSLRs and mirrorless still purchase technologically antiquated and some discontinued DSLRs that came out years ago that will soon not be supported.
They have the option of buying far more technologically advanced cameras for the same money that will still receive service.
Just curious what is the driving force to spend money on old obsolete cameras?

Maybe it is as simple as.... it is what I like and want.

I am sailing into unchartered waters as I want to buy a Nikon telephoto lens of 400 mm or more but I know zilch about which one to buy. A number of posts have recommended that a person rent such a lens and try it out before buying. Again, I have no knowledge of renting a lens. I would appreciate views on renting a lens, the usual caveats in renting, recommended dealers, etc.. Any advice on this subject that you can give this newbie is greatly appreciated.

I have rented from Aperture Rent several times. Have always had good service. Depending on your location, you may be able to pick it up from them or they will ship by Fedex. Good luck.

I love my D500, and I doubt they will upgrade it. If they do, I will still use it as my DX camera and consider a newer full frame one.

I will be driving to San Francisco Sept. 8 and spending 4 nights there. My accommodation is right outside the Presidio of San Francisco. Does anyone have any special photo spots to recommend. I want to stay inside the city area and not venture too far from the city center except to drive across the Golden Gate and see some of the sites for one of the days. I will have a Golden Retriever with me so that might limit access to some areas. Also, I will be driving in to the city from the north going around Sacramento on a Sunday evening. Is there a best route to take to get in to San Francisco avoiding as many traffic jams as possible? Thanks for any advice in advance!

The Presidio has a pet cemetery. It was fascinating to see it when I was there last. It has all the pets that passed while the owners were serving there many years ago.

Lowa and Merrell are both great. Zappos.com offers free shipping, both ways if needed and overnight will send a second pair if there is a problem with the first.

I ordered one of these when it first was announced... nearly a year later it finally arrived... I took it out of the box, but have not used yet... I think maybe I lost interest and the company was very vague and hard to deal with. I would not do it again.

You are visiting a wonderful area. If you have time, visit Cades Cove in the GSMNP. Also some areas of the mountains suffered mega rains, so some roads may be closed. It is my understanding that NC9, close to Bat Cave is completely blocked and requires a lengthy detour, so call ahead or do your research.

In my experience, I change the pixel to inches setting before I print. It should give you the option.

I love my Nikon... both of them, but if I already had Canon lenses, I would not have purchased Nikon.
