A long time ago. I had the 5100 w Tamron 18-400. This was my first time at can air show with my photo buddy. He had a Canon 80 d w Tamron 18-400. Both of us had problems with focus. So we switched to manual. You have to full around with your shutter speed. I use manual to have complete control of my camera.

I went from the Nikon 5100 to the 7100. It has a built in motor so you can put the older and new lens on. It has a bigger buffer. I also used third party lens like the Tamron 16-300 mm, it is also 24 mp. I was shooting air shows with it. A great camera. Any of the 7xxx series. I buy refurbished or used. Good luck

I used my Nikon D 7500 w Tokina 100 mm F 2.8 and the Tamron 16-300 mm

F 8 Shutter Speed 1000 Auto ISO.

I did the weddings and portfolios. Developed and some times pushed processed it. I did my work in the dark room burning and dodging in my black and white film. Times change. With modern devices things get easier. I use these tools to make my pictures better. Back in the day I would not change it for today. We never thought back then of photoshop or lightroom. What's a true photographer. He prints his pictures and looks back and enjoys his work and where he was.

My photo buddy uses the Tamron on his Canon 80 D. He has shot planes, trains and automobiles. I have the Tamron 16-300mm on my Nikon 7100. No problems with either. I do use back button focusing in Servo mode and Manual. Both are great tools in which you learn to use.

My good photo buddy had a Canon 450 and lens. He is a Senior too. Because he did think it looked professional enough he got the 5d mk II. When he showed me this camera two years ago. He complained it was heavy. A few months ago he came by dumping it one to sell. lol he now has a Sony 7 r II.

Nikon 10-24 F 3.5 I got it used on ebay.

Budget? Do have DX lens? 810 or for a bit more 850. 750 full frame most affordable

Nice shot. I am waiting to January or February when Nikon sells the returns as refurbished. I wonder if it will handle a Tamron 16-300 mm or Nikon 80-400 mm lens? Not that the camera is bad. Don't misunderstand me. It's just some people can't boil water. LOL

I have G.A.S. I have the Nikon D 7100 and just got the 7500. It takes my DX and and old D lens 24-85 F 2.8. I have a Tokina 100 mm F2.8. A Tamron 16-300 mm and a Nikon 80-400 mm lens. My walk around lens was the Tamron 16-300 mm It covers a huge area and on my cameras i have printed 11X14 and 8X10 no problems. I used it to shoot planes, trains and automobiles. I like refurbished or used. Adorama and B&H give you a time if you don't like it. Return it. Refurbished and used on Ebay will save you a lot of money. Shop wise.
