I bought a new Protege in '91 and really wanted a Miata, but I didn't fit. I got the Protege with what was essentially the 1.8 liter version of the Miata engine (DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder, 7,000 RPM redline) and a 5 speed manual. Great car that was fun to drive and my wife and I both fit (she is 6' tall with very long legs). We donated the Protege wit a little over 250,000 almost trouble-free miles, including its only clutch replacement at 200,000 miles. When we needed another car in 2006, same thing, the NC Miata wasn't big enough, so we bought a Mazda 3 with the 2.3 liter and a 5 speed manual. It's still going strong at 176,000 almost trouble-free miles and still has the original clutch and brake pads. I took an NC Miata for a 45 minute drive while my 3 was getting serviced and was on the verge of a cramp in my right leg. I loved driving it and the shifter was wonderful, as was the one in the RX-8 that I considered buying when we bought the 3. We've driven the 3 as long as 14 hours in a day and many 10 hour plus days and were comfortable at the end of the day. Plus it has a decent trunk and a back seat for road trips. We've been as far away from the Bay Area as Mt. Rushmore in it. I'd still like a Miata, but leg shortening surgery is not an option. BTW, the license plate frame on the 3 says MX-5 +2 on top and Zoom Zoom on the bottom. The one on my Protege said 4 Door Miata.

DJ we bought the RX8 instead of the 3, a 2006. I drove "her" 5 years, putting 81K+ smooth as silk miles on a 6 speed manual. LOVED that car al.........most as much as my kids..LOL Took her up to Nantahala Village in eastern TN, and ran the the Tail of the Dragon without a hitch; 318 turns in 11 miles is FUN! Anything that can take a 30 degree turn at 45-50 miles an hour keeping all 4 tires on the ground and between the yellow lines, is my kind of vehicle..

I don't know where you are, but where I am, nobody is just coming up close to another person. They are going out of their way to keep distance from others. If someone did try to come close to me, I would quickly tell them to keep their distance. I feel it's a big help to my mental health to be able to get outside and go for a walk every day (with my camera of course).

Coincidentally with the Florida shelter in place order, we had to make a trip south just across the AL/FL border to do some maintenance on a residence. With the beaches closed, we ventured about a half hour away at dusk, to Ft Walton Beach-during normally the beginning of the tourist season. The area was a ghost town. Though not allowed on the sand itself, we were surprised to find the boardwalk in certain areas was open-not a soul in sight....Unfortunately not thinking we would even be able to get into the beach side parking lots, I did not take my camera. Never have I ever seen the Gulf of Mexico as beautifully serene; the area without the noise of people, restaurants, traffic...the sound heard with only a light breeze blowing was just lap, lap......lap......lap.....of wave after wave at low tide. Mother Nature has a way of cleaning up the masses when her children do not listen to her warnings.

My choices are 2,4,7 & 8. They each have a sense of clarity of purpose in the faces of these creatures. All are beautiful shots though.

Thanks for the visit & comment Izluluz ... appreciate the feedback. And my apologies, but unfortunately, I've not been able to make that file downloadable. I tried last night when I posted it & then tried to post it several times this morning as a reply to your message, but even though I check "(store original)" & click on "Add Attachment", it doesn't come as downloadable. Sorry.

Not a problem and I appreciate you trying. That photo is one of those that makes me turn my head to one side and say awwwwwww.

Every time we go to DC, I have to stop by the Korean War Memorial. The beautiful wall of etched black granite and the bigger than real life soldiers coming through the field is very moving. It is both beautiful and peaceful. If your are interested, it is well worth Googling the Korean War Memorial DC for all the details and symbolism.

Thank you for sharing CWilson341, and if I may Ms Carol. Such a wonderful reminder of the splendor that is artistry in its purest form.

I'll Google it. About 14 years ago, the moving wall for the Vietnam War, came to my general area. It was very moving and, I'll admit, when I was walking down the wall, I had tears in my.eyes. It didn't help, that my oldest son, was in the Marine Corps at the time. He did two tours in Iraq. He came back in one piece but, perhaps a little crazier than before he did his tours. LOL!

I hope you have an opportunity to revisit Washington DC and take a stroll along the Korean Memorial. I had an occasion to visit there once for one day 6 years ago. The Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, WWII memorials are what I chose to see. Respective of them all, the Korean Memorial is a spiritual place when standing among the soldiers and really seeing the photos that are emblazoned within the Granite.

On a clear close to dusk evening, its easy to imagine all those young men as they walked upon foreign soil in an open field in hopes of reaching cover on the other side. I could stand at the photo wall for hours, because each time a gaze is given and then another look is returned, something else within the photos begins to materialize to the eye broadening the reality of the larger picture. It is an amazing feat of artistry and tribute.

Fbeaston what a great adventure to have. I love the images and the captions. LOL My favorite of them all is the last image. The expression on this little creatures face is almost spiritual. Makes me wonder what he or she was thinking.

A request please if you could make image #8 downloadable? Another thought provoking capture.

What is fabulous to me in these shots is the seriousness of these surfers and their families, oblivious to anything except why they are there. I've tried my hand at catching a surfer ride a wave or two from the shoreline. It is not an easy scene to capture with this clarity. Awesome dude. LOL @~@

Great capture Irjames. Moonscapes are spectacular. I also had a question as to its location, as I'm trying to decipher the constellations, lol.
