I really do like the pack. You can haul a lot of gear. It is well made and can carry a full size tripod. The only negative is the depth. It is not very deep. It will not handle a pro body or one that has a battery pack on
Yes the Expedition 5x has been discontinued as are all the original Tamrac bags since Gura Gear bought them out. I am not sure I like them as much now
Even though the D5100 is a newer camera, it is a camera that you access functions per a menu system where as the D90 has buttons to help change certain functions. Also like what everyone else mentioned it has no built in af motor so you need to use AF-S lenses or lenses with built in motors

Hour sister-in-law can just remove the batteries from the bottom of the hand grip and replace them. I had this camera awhile back and I think they are CR123 lithium batteries
All outside pens for the animals do not have bars in place. any animals that are in the Reptile house, Bird house or the primate house are behind glass enclosures. I go there quite often and have no problem using a tripod any where.
