When using the Nikon Z8 with the Tamron Z 150-500 lens when I push the shutter button the image moves in the eyepiece. I believe it is the vibration reduction. Do I actually need to turn VR off in the camera when using this lens? Has anyone else had this happen?

I have the zfc and use the back button focus. It was a pain to set up but works great. I watched a utube on the zfc and bbf. I don't remember how I did it. Sorry, don't give up.

If you are a home owner it should be covered on you home owners insurance. I would call your agent to check coverage or add your camera equipment if needed.

Homeowners policies will cover the camera gear while at home. It will only cover up to 10% of the value of the personal property limit when away from the house. It does not cover maintenance or camera failure. and it may have a high deductible of 1000.00 or more. There are stand alone companies that offer a better layer of coverages but it comes as a price.

Has anyone gotten theirs yet?

If so, do you mind sharing when ordered and received and who from?

Ordered last month from Adorama and they have no clue on availability.

I ordered it in July and got it 2 weeks ago. I ordered from a local camera store here in Colorado

I shoot focus shifting all the time using the sb5000. When setting up focus shifting you can tell the camera to pause 2 or more seconds between shots for your flash to recycle. Very easy process. Works great. I have done 40 shots with a 1 second pause quite often.

On a D850:
Does anyone know if there is a way to initiate or start the stack series by assigning the shutter button? I want to be able to hand hold & look through the viewfinder while shooting the series, and not set up a tripod & use the touch screen. I have found that placing Focus shift shooting in the 'My Menu' directory & accessing 'My Menu' by assigning it to the Fn2 button, & then pressing the 'OK' button right above, twice will start the pre-set sequence, but it is a clumsy way to shoot & I need to leave my support hand where it should be, under the lens.

For those of you with a Z7 , can you use the shutter button for initiating FS shooting?

Thanks!

I guess my question to your question is why? When I have used FS with my 850 and Z6 on a tripod, any motion ruins the picture stack. Hand held would guarantee motion and defeat the purpose. Even a light breeze or light burst of air can ruin a pic. What am I missing?

I used a 2 screen setup for 5 years. I got a 36 inch curved monitor and it works great. My prints still print flat and the monitor does not create any issues. Imo it helped clear up the clutter on my desk and it is big enough to use split screens if needed.

I’m still contemplating a new ball head and found Acratech. I like the concept and they have one with built in gimbal position. Does anyone have one of their ball heads and what do you think?

I have had a Acratech GP ballheaad for 5 years. It has been a great ballhead. I seldom use it as a gimbal but the head has always worked flawlessly. I got the quick release lever for mine and if used properly it never fails but you have to close it properly. The guys at Acratech are very helpful, if you call and have questions. I had the original release mount and called them to discuss other options. Customer service was great. It is light weight and easy to use. Easy to keep clean. I have had a D850 with a 200-500 lens and 1.7 converter on it with no issues. I would buy it again. Hope this helps!

I use a black rapid but I added a lead and connect the camera to a standard strap lug. The other end connects to my belt loop. Can't drop the camera and it shares the weight

I am looking at replacing my computer monitor and am wondering what would be best for processing pics. Is a curved monitor good or bad? Recommendations appreciated.

I use the promedia l bracket on my D850 and my Z6. The bracket is very well made and customer service is good. They also have a quick release for your camera strap that works great and I switch between cameras all the time in seconds. It is incorporated into the l bracket.
