For an excellently engineered bracket, look at Really Right Stuff's. It is designed to fit around the body to prevent pivoting, which most of the generic ones do sooner or later. Available with built-in Allen Wrench

For one that will work just as well, try 3-Legged Things'

All the usual people pushing Kirk and RRS. Which are okay by the way. You could also check out Smallrig model 2232 or Sunwayfoto at half the price. And it is not that anybody has copied anybody - there are only so many ways to design an L bracket. We have a Sunwayfoto and cannot fault it.

Pushing? Merely expressing satisfaction with a quality product.

Feel free to provide an example or three where respondents have previously pushed RRS and Kirk...not that it matters.

Well over the last year every request for an L bracket (why don't people use search and save a lot of everybody else's time) about 5 people chime in with Kirk and RRS. It's got to a point where I wonder if they feel they had to defend their decisions. If you took this advice Kirk and RRS must sell thousands of brackets. Based on a lot (I mean a lot) of requests here I get the feeling that not every member has the wherewithal to buy the best but are denied an option of considering something that might be more in line with what they really need. Very hard to stuff up the design of an L bracket (generic designs aside). A bit of aluminium machined and anodised and they all perform the same. So far I have not heard of a single complaint against Sunwayfoto or SmallRig but few people recommending them because they are busy getting on with their photographic life and don't have time. For some reason owners of RRS and Kirk seem to have a need to mention them to the exclusion of all others. Ah it's late and I am going to bed !

Well over the last year every request for an L bra... (show quote)

The OP asked a simple question and all were free to comment on what they thought was a remedy for his query. Rather than just respond with your recommendation, you opt to denigrate the choices of others. How nice for you.

The OP may feel badly about taking up your time by not doing his own search instead of seeking opinions on the forum.

Yes, hopefully bed will help you.

RRS has some great features besides excellent fit and finish. Integrated Allen wrench storage. Two piece construction in some cases so the side L can be removed from the base with one screw in seconds. Integrated mount hole for their military grade snap in QR hardware.

They can often be found at a good discount on eBay if you want to save a few bucks, especially for older model cameras. It’s your money spend it as you wish, bottom line.

I've had several Sunwayphoto L brackets, all were well made and fit perfectly at a reasonable price.

I'm a RRS fan. There's 2 for the 850,expensive and more expensive! The more expensive gives you a camera strap boss on the vertical piece that comes up the side of the camera. I'm not sure the less expensive does. However one thing I really like about the more expensive one is it has a screw that goes through the camera strap boss on the camera body. While I have no scientific proof it seems it would make the bracket and camera more of a single piece.

Also be sure about the grip. That's yet another bracket!
