Does anybody have a suggestion for a fast compact wide angle lens for a Sony a7r iv? I would use it for parties, street photography and pictures I would take inside museums and other low light indoor situations where I could not use a flash. I am looking for auto focus and a lens which would not break the bank.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a photo printing service for larger prints (>8.5 x 11)? Bayphoto and Nations are two I've run across on line. Has anyone used them?
I admit I would not use it all the time, but they are nice to document trail hikes and view points especially in wilderness areas.
I am looking for a Photo tracker to tag the location of my photos. I will be using it with a Nikon D7200 and want it to be able to export GPX files if it does not directly communicate with the camera. I am most interested in some sort of iPhone app but am also considering standard alone and dedicated devices. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?
Although Muir Woods is a great place to see redwood trees, I would recommend Big Basin state park off of highway 9 in the Santa Cruz mountains. It is one of the oldest of California's state parks, has more and bigger redwoods, is far less crowded and does not require a reservation.
Fixed cameras used by multiple users for high volume specimen photography or copy work are sometimes tethered to allow direct uploading to a computer or network. Someone inevitably walks off with the card in that sort of situation. If you had to have a card to take a picture you would be dead in the water in that scenario. I agree this a very narrow market.
Actually you tube has some excellent tutorials on a broad range of photography subjects given by professional and knowledgeable amateur photographers. Complete courses are available free through many public libraries or at a nominal fee.
I have found "Adobe Photoshop CC for Photographers" 2018 edition by Martin Evening useful. Fairly dense but very comprehensive and there is an on line supplement.
Thanks for the feedback! I already have a 35mm f/1.8 which I have been using for portraits and low light. In light of your comments I think I will take a look at the 85mm lens also.
I am in the market for a fast prime lens for my nikon D7200. I will be using the lens primarily for portraits using natural light. My short list consist of the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G, f1.4D, f/1.8G, and f/1.8D. Reading the reviews they are all over the place with some photographers loving certain lenses while others thinking the same lens is pure garbage. Since there is only 1/2 a stop difference in these lenses, the most important factors in my mind are price and sharpness. Any thoughts?
Yes, I have an iMac and I've already tried all the filters in photoshop. None of them were entirely satisfactory.
Does anybody have any suggestions for photoshop plug ins? I used to play around with posterization in my film/darkroom days and would like a plug in that would make some of my photos look more like a drawing or painting.
Is my DSLR, a macro lens, and a copy stand a better alternative than buying a scanner?
I am going to be scanning my old photos and slides in an effort to get them on my computer. Any recommendations for a good scanner? I tried doing it with my all in one HP printer/scanner/fax/copier but found the results wanting. I was looking at the epsom dedicated scanners like the v800 or v600.
I am looking to upgrade/replace my old Nikon D300. Great camera but technology has moved on. I am considering the Nikon D7200, D5500, or D500. I don't think I'm ready to go full frame yet because of the expense and the fact that I have a few DX lenses. Any thoughts or advice? I do mainly landscape and people photography.
