Would someone please recommend a good book on Photoshop. I forgot how to use some of the editing editing tools to change a background, etc.
Thanks
Try Photoshop for Dummies.

There are many good books, I'm confident. I will tell you that when I wanted to transition making adjustments from Lightroom to Photoshop, I found a British author named Robin Whaley who has some very good books that deal strictly with basic (and complicated) photo adjustments using Photoshop. They are inexpensive and very good.

I Just ordered one of his books. I looked at Photoshop for Dummies and wasn’t impressed with authors style but liked Robin Whaley.
Thank you

Most welcome. His books for the Nik toolset are very good, also.
It is faster to learn on You-Tube. Just search on Photoshop for beginners, you will be greeted by dozens.
His book on photoshop is also very good with videos. Only 9.95
I would forget the book and start with Adobe tutorials and combine them with Utube
Actually watching is much more comprehensive than reading.
Forget the book , start with Adobe tutorials and also Utube . Reading is one source and opinion, video is many sources and many opinions. Nobody uses PS the same way.
Thanks to all, I do better reading then watching. I have several videos saved.
You could try the Photoshop Bible, or Photoshop for Photographers. They seemed to have some good advice.
And since these books tend to be expensive, I would recommend going to your library and seeing if they can lend you a handful to browse through. That way you can find an author who matches your learning style without emptying your wallet!

Books are a tough way to learn PS. (IMHO) I really like Phlearn. (On-line videos - You tube.) Most are free - but you can also sign up for a series. Aaron Nace - the host, is pretty funny.
I have 2 monitors. On one monitor I play the video, and on the other I have PS open. Watch the video for 2 min - stop, then copy the action in PS on your own photo. If you get lost - rewind the video and watch that spot again. Rinse and repeat.
Kelby One has some good tutorials. It has a subscription price with it. I tried it for a year and felt it was worth it. But after a year I had seen all the videos I wanted.
I also use Lynda.com which has some great PS tutorial videos. It's free through my Library system. (You need a library card but all access is on-line - I watch from home.) I particularly like the PS and LR videos done by Chris Orwig. Chris also has some good books.
If you want to use books, I agree with the suggestion to try the library first. If the book works for you, then buy it.
