I,too, have been using it since it was a freeware product from JASC. It is very analogous to Adobe Photoshop Elements. There's very little difference between those two. I use Capture One and ON1 for RAW editing, and I've found Faststone and Irfanview very valuable for quick things I don't want to spend a lot of time on. But PSP has always been useful for a variety of purposes those others can't handle, especially if you ever need to lay type on a photo or do precision positioning of multiple graphics or create something from scratch or make transparent backgrounds, etc. I'm rarely happy with the adjustments it will make automaticaly if you let it, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. Well worth the money to have in your toolkit.

I've tried several and the one with which I've been most pleased and which also had a reasonably short learning curve is Movavi. You can download a free trial. https://www.movavi.com/videoeditor. It does a lot of things well. I've used it for editing personal videos but also for corporate webinar and training videos and web commercials.

WordPerfect may still be around but it literally looks almost exactly as it did 10 years ago. If Corel invested anything in updating it, it's hard to see where the money went. WordPerfect was my favorite word processor for years especially since Microsoft never gave us its equivalent of "reveal codes" which was ultra-handy. I bought the latest version from Corel about a year ago because I needed something that wouldn't include proprietary Microsoft html tags in exported html documents. I was hoping I could use it for more but gave up on it fairly quickly.

It's quite true there are noticeable differences between the two programs. I've used both. Generally, I've been less happy with the results I've gotten than from other RAW processors I use including ON1, Capture One and the SilkyPix freebie that came with my Fujifilm X-T2. I say this as someone who's been using Corel Paint Shop Pro since it was a freeware product in the Windows 95 days and has been generally satisfied with it for non-RAW work. Corel has usually been very slow to add compatibility for new cameras to the program. I will say that if you're okay with some trial-and-error, some of the 3rd party plug-ins you can access via the program do improve its functionality, particularly with regard to sharpening. It's been several years since there was a meaningful update.

It doesn't seem to be do-able via the built-in menus.

That PC Mag review is dated 2012. I wouldn't pay any attention to it. I have a paid site via Zenfolio, I was given a site for one year on smugmug for joining the ON1 Rewards program, and I have a paid site for my company on slicpic. I'm planning to move all my personal photos to slicpic. It's not the cheapest, but I think it has the best value, flexibility, and most intuitive user interface. It also allows for larger file sizes.

Assuming you were provided with Corel Paint Shop Pro, be aware that it's not a RAW processor. Corel has a product called Aftershot Pro which is intended for RAW post-processing. It's okay, and it would undoubtedly support your Nikon-format files, but there are better solutions out there. It's too bad you deleted PSP, though, because it's a useful adjunct for anything to do with non-RAW formats, and it will perform functions no RAW processor of which I'm aware can do.

In ON1, the haze and structure controls are useful adjuncts to the sharpening tools. I've been unimpressed with Topaz Sharpen AI now several days into a trial. FWIW, the sharpen tools in the free program Faststone Image Viewer are pretty decent.

This is a dilemma for me as I shoot RAW most of the time -- Fuji format -- and post-process in ON1, but if I use Topaz DeNoise early in the process as they suggest, then bring the file back into ON1 as a DNG, I'm giving up a lot of Fuji data and options in the file. For the time being, I'm only importing to DeNoise and converting to DNG early in the process with really problematic photos. I do have to say DeNoise, while not without its own problems, does seem capable of doing things other post-processing software options are not.

Of all the free programs I've tried, I think Faststone image viewer is the best. https://www.faststone.org/ Definitely worth trying. Good basic adjustments, resizing, cropping, straightening, sharpening, curves, etc. Quick learning curve. Very thoughtful and easy interface.

Definitely try before you buy with Denoise AI. I'm doing a trial now and I have the same problem with both my Windows 10 desktop and laptop: I can't access the saved images, and there's something really wrong with the files it creates. I'm shooting max resolution with a Fujifilm XT-2, yet the DNG files it writes say they are 200x200 and 130 MB. Can't open them. Similar problems with the jpg and tif files I've tried to write. Topaz says they're aware of the issue and can't tell me when it will be resolved. The previews in DeNoise look really good, but, so far, it's useless to me. I know my way around a Windows machine pretty well and both my units are fairly contemporary and have a lot of horsepower, so I doubt that's the problem.

I also downloaded DeNoise a couple of days ago. My experience has been incident-free so far -- I'm not trying to use it as a plug-in, FWIW -- but I clicked through from the Community/Forum/Topaz products menu item and saw there were a lot of comments about users having such issues. I didn't read through them all. You might take a look there and see if the fix you need is posted. The URL is https://community.topazlabs.com/c/topaz-products
