Does anyone use PaintShop Pro to edit photos? I have Lightroom standalone version 6. I am thinking about more functions of Adobe Photoshop, in addition to Lightroom 6. Is PaintShop close to Adobe Photo Shop in main or basic functions? Thanks!

My only experience is with PaintShop, going back decades, now PaintShop Pro Ultimate 2021 (updated Black Friday @ $34.99). Believe new user is $74.99 special, regular Pro version $15 cheaper. Current versions are as sophisticated as I have ever needed and with it's included bonuses & add-ons I hear gives PS a run for its money. Bonus is no subscription costs, user friendly.

I also have been using Jasc/Coral PaintShop Pro since 1990. I find it easy to use and has all the functionality I need for photo editing and more...

I had to get a new editor when I got a Canon 6D mkII, my old elements package couldn't read the newer files.
So I tried PSP2020 on the strength of recommendations from the photo club. I've moved on a bit since Elements but I'm not a proficient editor, however I'm satisfied with my results and there seems to be plenty of on screen videos. But I also have a fringe dyslexic issue and I really like a book or a guide. And they are thin on the ground. It might come down to printing out the whole manual.

Take a trial - it's not going to cost you anything.

The new PSP 2021 program has Ai in some functions as do most 2021 editing programs. $50 at Amazon for a disk. Most places you get a download with a time limit for downloading ... Remember Charlton Heston's comments about having a disk... "they'd have to take it from his "cold, dead hands."

Ai will be the wave of the future and there are developer tools out there. Caffee "can process 60 million images per day with a single NVIDIA K40 GPU." The list of 12 open sources [free] development tools will mean that thousands of developers for the fun of it will develop programs that do great or perverse wonders to behold.

I also bought PSE 2021 with a disk, I recently had some supernatural happening my PSE program disappeared!! downloaded again but did not have or could not find my S#. Anyway, 2021 has again Ai so both PSP and PSE have entered the new Ai era.

Photolemur 3 has a free download with a watermark across the top, it is similar to a blanket auto improve ?, but is it? $35 for full no watermark

NCH has a free edition of its editor. The menu is a bit odd but easy once you play around a bit.

Of course, my favorite is Google's Deep dreams which fits my motto "no good photo shall go unmolested." Careful it is addictive and will your friends will just-not-understand you once addicted and showing them your photos.

I bought the 2020 version. I wonder if I can get a free upgrade - or reduced cost. Do you have any influence with the company? Maybe you could put in a good word for me.

EDIT: I can upgrade my Ultimate for $40.

Having gone down the Adobe road and being dismayed at needing a Ph.D to understand it. I switched to PaintShop Pro back about 2004 and was generally amazed at what I could do quickly & the results. I recently added on ACDSee Ultimate. I've found it rivals LightRoom & PaintShop Pro at about the cost of PaintShop Pro but with the results of Adobe LightRoom & PhotoShop. No continuing fees either

I regularly use PSP 5 that I've had for at least 20 years. I use it for non photo graphics as well as simple tasks on photos. I know its capabilities have increased since Coral bought it from JASC.

I've thought of leaving Adobe for a year so I took the steps to enter PSP on Black Friday. The program would not download. I've called and I got a service order number and an assurance that someone would call or email me. I've emailed them twice and gotten more service order numbers. I am now willing to sell my new unusable corel 2021 pup ultimate s/n and 3 service order numbers to the highest bidder. As of now PSP sucks.

I have been using PSP since day one-it is all I know. I had a problem with PSP 2018 so I upgraded to PSP 2020. Same problem. Their tech people were not able to help after much efforts. I know how to get around the problem and therefore I continue to use it. I have no desire for PSP 2021. I just wish they would quit sending me ads to sell 2021.

I have used it on a regular basis for many years and like it very much. It is easy to use once you play with it a bit.

I have used Corel PaintShop Pro for years with outstanding results. It is getting better with each new version not only for photo editing but the full version is a great graphic design tool. I have used it for business. It is intuitive, provides regular tutorials, and in my opinion gives Photoshop a run for the money.

My only influence was my money! Jerry call and cry saying that you are an ol retiree and if it does not work with one customer service call do it again.

Jerry if you already have the Ultra addon subprograms and plugins, then the easy thing is to go into C:\ Programs\PSP and copy and paste the changed files. First, rename the existing Plugin file to Pluginold. Sure beats adding your Topaz plugins one by one or in this case, the Ultr add ons that you already own.

PSP Ultimate 2021 is my sixth version. I have never had an issue downloading and installing any of the versions. Also, I have never had an issue with the functionality of PSP, even though there have been updates that I have installed, which, reportedly, fixed issues that I never came across.

My only complaint I ever had with Corel is that, like most companies, you have to "chat" with someone instead of being able to talk to a human being.

Have never used Photoshop, but I have PSP 2020 Ultimate and it does everything I need it to do and I don't have any monthly subscription fees
