I get 588 up, 118 down with Xfinity, even though I only pay for 300 up.
Im original from Wakarusa, just 11 miles from Goshen. One of my 7 sisters still lives there.
I'm 78 and still kicking! My brother and I have a non-profit, and I pick up food donations from healthy food stores (no junk food) to distribute to those in need. I have distributed over 85,000 pounds of food, which is a lot to lift at y age. My mind still feels young, even though sometimes my body tries to tell me otherwise. Thankfully, most people guess me to be in my 50's.
I was 18, standing at my workbench in a factory.
Beautiful weather in Denver this weekend, and all the flowering trees suddenly bloomed.
I've used VueScan for years, and find I get much better scans with it than with the OEM software. It also has more flexibility than the original software.

There's also Preview on a Mac, which helps a lot.
True or not, I have seen some incredibly stupid things lately! For one thing, I saw a driver looking for a parking place. There wasn't an open spot where he wanted to park, so he backed up to the front of parked vehicle, pushed hard until it was in the empty spot behind it. Then he parked in the formerly occupied space and calmly walked into the store!
Not really. I was disappointed and requested a refund. I like Affinity apps much better. they are having a sale on their Version 2 apps until Jan 25 – all 3 for $99.

Try Other World Computing (OWC). They have all kinds of good used Macs, and their technicians check them out thoroughly before selling them.
I have a 30" Cinema Display, which has worked great ever since I got it. Im surprised that your iMacs have slowed down so fast. 8 years isn't long for a Mac. I usually get around 14 years out of each one. My current one is 12 years old, and its running fine.
One thing you might look at is to make sure your Trash is emptied, including the email Trash. Those can slow things down a lot. Another thing to look at is good used machines, like a 27" iMac, either from OWC (Other World Computing), a very reliable Mac company, or LEM (Lower End Macs) which is a User Group that buys and sells good Macs.
How abut Carbon Copy Cloner? That has worked very well for me.
Have you tried Batteries Plus? They have had some old/odd/unusual batteries that I needed, and at good prices, too.
