Hey all,
I keep seeing excellent posts from Ed, several people view it, but nobody ever lets him know if they appreciate it, disagree with it, or don't understand it.

I think his last post was viewed 76 times, but nobody wants to even take a second to say "thanks" or "wait, I disagree" or....

I know it takes a lot of time to put together well thought out posts. I just think that in the tradition of ours being the friendliest section, maybe we could take a second to let him (or anyone else that posts) that we read it, or appreciate it, or even disagree.

OK, off my soapbox.
Back to work..........ugh........work.
Hey all, br I keep seeing excellent posts from Ed,... (show quote)

I am one of those who view Ed's post and always learn something and don't reply or quote from it. I am a kind of person that stays in the background and keeping quiet or maybe not to good in writing, but I really do appreciates Ed's work and will always be looking forward for his future post.
Thanks Ed.

Why is this one guy using toe clips & straps instead of clipless pedals?

I also wonder why that one rider is using toe clips. If there is a crash, he will go together with the bike.

More men fell during the Battle of Gettysburg than in any other battle on American soil before or since. Much has been written and said about Gettysburg. But the most tangible connection to those 3 days in July (1,2 & 3) is the battlefield itself.

I just joined and thought I'd take advantage of the expertise out there...

In the next few weeks I'll be on a Viking River cruise visiting Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Cologne and Amsterdam. I plan to bring my Canon gear: 5D3, 5D2 (emergency spare), 16-35 f4L, 24-70 f2.8L II, 70-200 f2.8L II, 1.4 and 2.0 extenders, 430EXII flash and small Sirui tripod. For convenience, I always bring my G16 when my SLR is inappropriate. For tours, I expect to keep the 24-70 on most of the time and carry the 16-35 and flash. The 70-200 and extenders will be for shore-line castles that we'll pass.

I'm considering renting either the new Canon 11-24 UWA or Sigma 12-24 ART lens but not sure if I'll us it. Am I over-packing or forgetting something?

Thanks for your feedback.

Jeff....I did the Viking River Cruise also and all I brought is my 28-120 lens. My advice to you is bring your 24-70 and the 70-200 together with your small sirui tripod.
You won't have much time changing lenses when you are ashore even place it on a tripod. Your free time is only on your extended tour. Please share to us your pictures from the tours and have a nice trip.

Don't think so. The Parliament building is on the Pest side of the Danube. The Fisherman's Bastion is in Buda (the hilly side).

You're right. I got confuse on the two sides of the Danube River. Thanks for the correction.

We'll be taking a Danube River Cruise this May from Budapest to Nuremberg and on to Prague. I've heard that because of vibration on the boats, it isn't really worth taking a tripod. Thoughts??

I have taken the same Viking River Cruise and a Tripod won't help and it will just slow you down. You have not mention the camera and lens you have, but I suggest you bring along at least 2 lenses. 1 lens to shoot at night. When you reach Vienna, your boat will dock at night and you will have time to go the city and take some night photography. In Budapest where you will start, go out and shoot nearby where your boat is dock as you will have no time after that except during the planned tour during the day. At Prague, there will be enough time to shoot as you will be staying there for 3 days. Enjoy your trip!!!! Check these photos that was shot during my trip.

Thanks for the info d2b2. Glad to know about the ship. Guess I need to visit the Harbor often.

VERY nice photos. I live about 15 minutes from the Inner Harbor, and it is a great place to take pictures. And by the way, the USS Constellation is sometimes reported to be the sister ship to the USS Constitution (referred to as Old Ironsides,) which is in Boston's Harbor. Both ships were two of the original six Frigates that comprised the US Navy, built in the 1797. But the Frigate Constellation was dismantled and the wood used to build the current Sloop Constellation, in 1854, which is bigger and has greater armament than the original. Given all of that, are they really "sister" ships, or is the reconstructed Constellation really a new, and no longer a sister ship to the Constitution? In summary, (A) is that a terrifically, waste of argument time? And (B) are you still awake??? (My apologies for the lecture...) I was on the Constellation last Wednesday for a business cocktail party. It is a great piece of history and a great place for such an event!

Hi John....I don't know the name of the ship. When we went there, it is too crowded and it is hard to get a place to set my tripod without being bump. I notice the sign of Ripleys too unless the "or" light is burnt out. I should have brought my 24-120 lens instead of the 16-35 lens so that I can do a close up of some ships. And thanks for looking.

Love the old warship at dusk! Do you know what ship it is?
I think it's funny that at Ripley's the word "or" is out, so it says "Believe it Not".
Like the reflections it the water too.
Your camera does really well in low light as well.

Thanks for looking Scott. Those food pavilion lining up the Harbor is very tempting. We went to the Irish Bar and Grill. I haven't been to Fells Point yet, maybe someday.
