About 20 years ago, I successfully balanced an egg during the spring equinox for almost 14 hours, never tried it in fall. I balanced it on the small end.

Looks like someone captured this bird and put a collar on so it could not swallow the fish it caught, some indiginous people in mostly south pacific islands do this. When bird gets too weak, they turn it loose and begin process with another to catch fish for their family. Bird should recover and regrow feathers in a few months. If you find out who is doing this, report them to your local wildlife protection authority, it is probably illegal where you live.

After almost 50 yrs with 35mm to 4x5, home B&W and color darkrooms, as a mainly wildlife enthusiast, I chose a package deal Nikon D3300 w/ 18-55 and 55-200 lenses when I went digital. This is a "crop format" camera, lens equiv. to 35mm are about 28-85mm and 85-300mm, I use the 18-55 most often. I love digital, don't have to buy film or pay for chemicals or processing, just download and hit "print"! This pkg. is still available if you search, for under $600.00

About 40 yrs ago, I was helping a couple of friends in Virginia work on their Harleys, when a couple of Mormon missionaries rode up the driveway on bicycles (this was a very rural area). One of my friends greeted them by saying "I haven't f*****d a Mormon boy in years, they left without a word!

The last movie I saw in a theatre was Men In Black II, my daughter dragged me there. I have little use for the crap Hollywood produces, I don't even watch movies on TV. I pay extra for channels that show NASCAR, INDYCAR, Formula 1, and the NFL, that's where my priorities lie, the rest of the time, I'm on FOX NEWS!

They are suing, here you can get a lawyer for anything, but I wouldn't place a bet on their chances of winning.

WoW! my first "big fish" was a 22" chain pickerel, I still landed it even though it broke my flimsy rod handle. I was also 13 yrs old. I'm envious, I'm 66 now, have never landed a Muskie, this kid has a story for the ages!

We have a competitor to sorry-excuse for a helmet maker here in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, making Kevlar helmets that have been recorded as having saved lives of our military. Factory in Newport, VT, on Canadian border, turns out thousands of effective helmets every year. Put the inmates back to making license plates.

They lost ALL there property value, I meant it when I said they abandoned their home. They stopped paying property taxes on the property they had owned for years, the turbine noise makes it unsaleabe, the town will try to auction it off for unpaid taxes, probably will not sell. "green energy" is another Marxist scam to destroy the American way of life.

That problem would have cost at least $65.00 to repair from Ritz camera repair 35 years ago. If you can buy a replacement body for half that now, that's a good deal. Alternative, think about going digital, initial investment a little higher, but remember, you will never have to pay for film or processing again. Once you have the camera and your choice of lenses, (you obviously already have a computer) IT'S ALL FREE! I sold a large collection of 35mm, Leica sm, Olympus and Nikon, 3 TLR's including 2 early 1950's Rolleiflexes, and an assortment of 2x3 to 4x5 press cameras, for maybe a third of what I could have sold them for 15 years earlier, before digital took over. I still got enough to buy a D3300, 2 lenses, upgrade my laptop computer and printer, have a little left over. I'm having a great time learning the capabilities of the D3300, from what I've seen so far, the so-called "package lenses" are as sharp as the Nikkor or Zuiko lenses I have used for years. It took me a long time to go digital, but I'm a 66 yr. old convert!

I've shot quite a bit of macro (and insect porn) over the years always used manual focus, as I'm one of those old fossils who learned macrophotograpy years before autofocus slr's were invented. I never used a dedicated macro lens, preferring a zoom lens in the 70-150 or 70-210 combined with a 2x teleconverter and extension tubes, a technique I learned from my old motorcycling buddy and photography mentor Robin Perry some 45 years ago. My favorite combination was an Olympus OM-2n, fitted with, in this order, a 2x teleconverter, a full set of extension tubes (7mm, 14mm, 21mm) and a Vivitar 70-150mm zoom. The zoom was used to focus. Robin made a lot of money selling stock photos with this setup, and I had a great time shooting insects and flowers with it. Unfortunately, I lost my entire archive in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene a few years ago, so I can't post anything from this era, I have not yet acquired ext. tubes for my Nikon D3300, or a teleconverter, but I do have a couple of zoom lenses suitable for the experiment, keep watching!

I retired early to a hunting camp in VT about 13 years ago, sold it 4 yrs ago and moved into a nice apt. in St. Johnsbury, and I do most of my shopping in NH, not only no income tax (except on investments and trust funds) but no sales tax. NH state liquor stores (with much lower prices than MA or VT stores) provide a large part of the revenue, much from non-residents. Property taxes in both VT and NH are oppressive, but the lifestyle is (almost) worth it, and the scenery is fabulous.

Definitely a member of the nightjar family, since I am not familiar with the birds native to your area, I can't narrow it down. Other members of the nightjar family include the chuck-wills-widow and the whipporwill. They are nocturnal fliers and are rarely seen in daylight. Photos of them are rare, their natural camouflage and day-sleeping habits make them rarely seen.
