I am trying to find a way to see the distance to subject using LightRoom Classic 13.2. I'll swear it used to be posted in the Exif data in the Library tab in the Exif panel on the right hand of the screen. Does anyone know what happened to that datum, or how I can get a reasonable value for this?

I would be happy to get an app for this if LR no longer provides this. I am running a iMac - Sonoma 13.2 and using a 4/3 Olympus with a 100-400 lens.

Any help would be much appreciated.

All the best and keep on shoot'n !
Bill A.

Good Morning Hoggers!

I tried all weekend to connect my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III to my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I followed the instructions in the Oly manual and the strayed off into the youtube land. Even bought Darrell Young's Book which was highly touted, but his instructions also failed.

Briefly, here is what happens ... the Bluetooth hooks up just fine. Then the wi-fi connect fails every time. Just says cannot connect to Wi-Fi. I have checked the SSID name and the password and all matches. I have even tried to enter the wi-fi connection manually and still same result!

Does anyone have this camera successfully connected to your IOS phone? I would appreciate some help.

My purpose is to be able to add GeoTagging to the OI.Share app to get GPS co-ords added to the Exif data for each photo.

Best to all!

Good morning "huggers". Hope you are all well and safe!

I have recently acquired an Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III with a 100-400mm 5.0-6.3 Zuiko zoom. I would like to find a good "exploring" or "discovering" or "guide to" or "mastering" book for this equipment - just the camera.

I have had one recommendation from a friend for a "Mastering ..." by Darrel Young. I am wondering if any of you shoot with this configuration and can recommend this, or any other book. I am an experienced photographer and my main interest is birding.

I would appreciate any help in this direction that you can provide, especially if you have actually used the book. I have been shooting Nikon Equipment since late 60's (started with FTN) but recently had to reduce the load that have been carrying due to back strain.

Best and good shooting from the attached Golden-fronted Woodpecker !

I agree 100% with you chief! I was there for two weeks last year and the tour I was on concentrated on birds. I shot with a Nikon 200-500 on a Nikon D500. Could not have been happier.

Good morning all! May we all have a safe and healthy new year replete with great photos!

I am trying to download Version 12 of Victoria Bampton's (The Lightroom Queen) Lightroom Quick Start Guide. All I can get is version 11 - and she has posted that this has been updated to V12. Any suggestions, running iMac ?Ventura 13.0.1

Thanks.

Good Morning Huggers: I am a bird photographer and I see that many of you also are. I'm trying to locate the meaning of certain abbreviations used when people post their sightings to eBird. The current one, listed in the comments sections, is HO. I have seen several others from time to time. Can anyone tell me where I can find the complete list - I have beaten "google" to death but cannot seem to hit on the search phrase that would deliver me to the correct spot.

Any help much appreciated.

Best to all!

Good Morning Huggers:

I am a bird photographer and shoot with a Nikon D500 and Nikkor 200-500 zoom. I love this camera/lens and I have carried it for about 4 years now. However, it is getting too heavy for an all day (or almost all day) trip. I have decided to replace the body with a Nikon Z 7 and a zoom as yet to be determined. My current thinking is that I will need to go down to nothing longer than a 400mm. I know this will be a little short for what I get with the 200-500; however I think this will be OK, if my following assumption is correct.

Assumption:
My D500 is a C-crop sensor, so my 200-500 gives me an "effective" range of 750mm; the D500 provides 20mp of resolution. The Z7 is a full frame and has a resolution of 47mp. This is where I think I can compensate. Since the Z7 has more than double the resolution than that of my D500, does this not mean I can crop the Z7 image to get something very close to the size/quality of my current rig if I choose the right zoom for the Z7. I am currently thinking the Nikkor Z lens 100-400mm. This should give me a "effective" look of 800mm. Since I crop to a resolution that has 20+ MP - should this not be the same quality as I am now getting for my D500?

Do you agree with my assumption? I cannot find anyone nearby that has a FF camera with 40 or more MP to test this on or I would try to empirically determine this.

Thanks for any assistance and all the best!

I think I am making the change to mirrorless (haven't finished the research) and I have the choices down to a Z6ii or a Z7ii. For now, my question just relates to the resolution. The Z6ii has a resolution of 24.5 and the Z7ii 45.7. I am primarily a bird photographer. My question is this. I crop - sometime severely - my shots of especially small birds, like sparrows, warblers, vireos, and the like. Would I not be better off with the Z7ii which gives me double the pixels to work with to get the bird to a large enough image to be interesting. I currently use a D500/200-500 zoom.

Thank you for your thoughts on this. Best to all stay safe!

I'm 82 and trying to decide on mirrorless (Z7 ii or 850). Currently D500 - 200-500. My main use (90%) is birding/wildlife. Hope this is not my last!
