I have the second one that my dad bought new for my mother in 1951, I believe.

In general, I think the camera collecting market has been depressed for a long time - prices are lower than they used to be. These old box cameras are mostly valuable to someone for whom they'd have nostalgic value.

Sometimes it’s just fun to have some old stuff. The other day at Goodwill I picked up an old Kodak Carousel projector for $9. Did I need it? No, I have three other Kodak’s. This one is an older model, metal and very heavy, has the vacuum tube looking bulb and has a self timer to tell it how long to display each slide before moving on. I’m sure in its day it was the space age model. Now it’s just an obsolete relic that has found a new home. And will probably be just more junk my kids will have to throw out after I croak.

The 1st one, an Ansco, was likely built here in Binghamton, NY. The factory still stands and has been converted to nice apartments. I see them on eBay, and have thought about picking one up for the nostalgic value.

Ansco Shure Shot was my first camera. My dad gave it to me for our class trip to West Point in 4th grade. That was 67 years ago, and I still have it in my camera collection.

The second one is a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye. I used one back in the 50’s.

My first camera (and we're talking 70 years ago) was like the first one but not that fancy. My dad laughingly reminded me that it was not a movie camera as I began to click and advance film. Hmm . . . wonder where those pictures went.

Several folks made cameras like the ANSCO. It has two viewfinders, one for portrait orientation and a second for landscape. The second, as has been pointed out, is a Hawkeye Brownie. Both cameras use variants of 120 film.

The Hawkeye uses 620 film. The biggest difference is the film spools. Regular 120 spolls will not work, but I've seen articles explaining how to modify 120 spools. I do not know if the little red window is in the right place to display the exposure numbers on the film backing.

I used a Hawkeye in the '50s also., but not sure when it was actually made. We also had two of the box cameras, but I don't remember them being ANSCOs. They were older, and used a different variant of 120 folm to make a significantly larger negative. I think the Hawkeye got 12 exposures from a roll of 620. The box cameras probably got 8 exposures per roll.

You need to read what the OP stated before such a response, I'll include the important bits for you to read again. The OP said...

There were bazillion of these kinds of cameras sold, so they aren’t rare collectibles. There only value may be for retro style decor. For photo enthusiasts, they can be fun to use if you can find film, more adapt film, that can be used in them.

They're good, but the Z9 would probably produce better results. : )

If you collect old cameras, they're perfect. When I was a kid, my parents had a Kodak similar to that Ansco - 127 film.
