Hello my photography friends. Its been a very long time since I have been here. A lot has happened in the past to years. My wife and I have built our retirement home in Tennessee. We wanted to do this two years ago but something happened that would test my resolve and physical being. June 17th of 2022 I was in a very bad accident. I was hit by a dump truck while working. The truck was doing 55 mph when it hit me. threw me over the guard rails and more than 50 feet. As you can guess I had some very bad injuries. I was in the hospital for four months and countless physical therapy. Just finished my last therapy session. I am mobile with a walker or a cane. I have learned patients and other ways to accomplish task. I am going to start my photography training after we get settled in our retirement home. I couldnt move my legs for a long time In the accident I broke my left hip my left pelvis my right knee tore my left achillies and internal injuries. Life has been very challenging but i am no quitter. It's been a big fight. Now I will try to get back into my life that i enjoy. Photography and my wood shop. there will be learning curves but I will achieve. stay tuned my friends. And please be safe out there there are careless people out there.

I'm doing a presentation for junior high children on Composition, and want to start with the question, " what the difference between a picture vs a photograph?" My answer is a picture is a memory you take for memories sake, a photograph is a memory you take after planning it out and carefully choosing how, when , why , where and who.
I know you hogs probably can give me a better description and that sometimes a picture becomes a lucky photograph. Any positive help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You're right. Pictures are taken with cell phones and iPads. Photographs are taken with cameras.

Are there any photographers on here that upgraded from a Canon 5D4 to the canon mirrorless R5 or R6markii. I have been researching the R5 and R6ii and have the desire to upgrade to one of them. I like the flip out rear LCD, better autofocus and better low light capability and on the R5 the additional megapixels (better for cropping post processing). On the R6ii whats holding me back is the 24 megapixels vs the 30 megapixels I currently have on the 5D4. I was just wondering if the IQ of the mirrorless is any better and if you would do it again or in hindsight stay with the 5D4.

Upgraded from 5dm4 to r5 last June. Blown away. Shot me first event last week with the r5 and 24-105mm. The double stabilization was incredible. All shots were dead-on. Focus was fantastic. I had the same question and solicited opinions on this site. But, in the end I decided upgrade and keep the 5dmiv as backup. However, you must remember to still use the 5dmiv every once in awhile or it will get jealous. 🤔

I stopped into my local camera store (ProCam) to look around. on the way out a brand new Canon R6 Mark II followed me home. So now the learning starts over again. The manual PDF file has over a 1000 pages, so I'll be reading for a week.
Same thing happened to me about a year ago. A Canon R5 smiled at me on my way out of a camera store. We flirted for minute then I took her home. She's been with me since then. I love her.

I am debating between Helicon Focus and Zerene Stacker for my work. I have downloaded the Helicon trial version but have not the Zerene version. Without going into great detail, what is the overall experience among the UHH members? Thank you for your recommendations.
I use Affinity Photo with no problems at all.

Do any of you UHH's have any info on this lens, good or bad? I am thinking of trading my Nikon 18-200 lens on the Tamron 18-400. Zeke
For hobby,,,,,,yes. For professional use,,,,,,no. Owned this lens for years and took it on 2 vacations and 1 event with no problem. Is a good vacation/walk-around lens. Not stellar but good enough to have in your collection.

I'm 74 and I won't concede that any new toy is my last until I get old. Still, if I were to make my "final camera upgrade" it would be the R5. It's the best of all the Canons you list and who doesn't want the best as their last? The Sony? I know nothing about it but it would have to be some camera to beat the R5.
Here, here. I'm 67 and concur 100%. Absolutely right.
