i ALSO OWN A LEICA 3F. tHE LENS WOULD NOT TURN SO i APPLIED ONE DROP OF VERY FINE OIL... AND IT TURNS SMOOTHLY.

A friend asked me if I would copy all of his slides on a CD. He used the slide projector and said setting up the screen and projector. I did and he and his family were thankful. I also have copied photos and had given them to my friends of 50 years; just the other day my wife told me that the wife decided to throw out all of their photos before moving to California. I copied over a hundred B/W photos of a friends Father’s relatives and Conrad said that since he did not know anyone he was going to throw them away. Every now and then I will email a photo or photos many years old to some that I know have not either remembered them or have not seen them. I know and have accepted the fact that all the photos that were personal to me will be cast aside…thrash container. I share some photos to some.

Agree with you, I worked for Hedrick Blessing Architectural back in the 50’s and the retoucher would get a new car every year, Deardorf 8 X10 cameras. Those early photographers that had the foresight to document so many images that are now gone, i.e. a metal ring on a street curb to be used to tie a horse drawn wagon to for example. Hurray for those guys.

I document certain activities, Wine making, Badminton tournaments (indoors), making Italian sausages and other Italian foods. These will be memories for myself and many others.

I have a Leica 3F that I purchased in Wheelus AFB Tripoli 1952. I use a Canon Digital now. I take out the Leica, wind it up and click some of the speeds just to hear that beautiful sound of the focal plane.

That kindness reminded me of an incident that happened some time in 1958. My friend Robert Sullivan had purchased a VW bug (the VW was new to the US). He and his wife were traveling and saw another VW parked on the side of the road with a flat tire. Bob stopped and offered to give his spare to the owner. The flat tire owner said that he would mail Bob money for the spare. Bob and his wife drove off "without a spare". Bob received a check for the spare. I do not think that this is a common practice these days.

Gang, I really appreciate all of your advice… My son cleans home owners carpets for his living and recently one of his customers asked him if he wanted her deceased husband’s monitor, printer, key boards (3 ea.), and the Dell PC. He said yes. My son is not tech fluent so he did not ask for anything else i.e. software or a password. The SOYO monitor has translucent vertical color bars that shows up on photos when I use the snipping tool. In order to resolve the vertical bars according to some video tech instructions it may be possible to solve this problem. Thanks to all of you once again, JoePaich@aol.com

I have a Leica IIIF purchased in 1952. I take it out on occasion just to hear the focal plane...

Frank e-mailed the photo of the boy, I used photoshop 7 cloned and meticulously cleaned and adjusted the darkening.

Frank, the photo is done...
