I updated my X-T5 on day 1 (not always the best choice), but my Godox TT685 flash works fine. Fijifilm did pull back the firmware for some of their other cameras. Subject tracking seems improved, but still needs work.
I have Nikon, Sony and Fuji cameras, all which I love and enjoy. My wife just bought me a iPhone 11 pro max for my birthday. I have never used my previous phones for cameras (unless no other choice) , but after doing lots of internet research the new iPhones, they seem to receive very generous reviews. I was wondering what the mostly camera (but iPhone users also) on this forum thought about the iPhone as a travel/backup camera?
I use and enjoy the a6000 and Fuji x-t20, I probably use these more then my D810. The Sony with the kit lens, makes an extremely compact camera.
I appreciate all the extremely helpfull replies and insights you all gave me. I'm still trying to make a decision, I don't like to spend money. I should make a decision in the next couple of days.
Thanks
Mark
Great information. Thanks for your reply.
Thanks for the reply, exactly some of the information I was looking for.
I'm getting older and sometimes size and weight can be an issue. I'm just wondering if people who have used both D810 and D850 consider the D850 that much better then the D810>
I'm just looking for opinions. I've done all the research on cameras and just want to hear from you based on your experience. I'v got a Nikon D810 and D7100 and some lower end mirrorless cameras from Sony and Fuji. I have a mix of FX and DX lenses, and I'm looking at the D850 (on sale and with a free battery grip) or the Z6 (I don't think I can afford the Z7). Not interested in the Z5. I'm also thinking of not buying anything and waiting for the D860 (if it comes) or the next gen of Z cameras. I'm looking for comments from people who have used the D810, D850 and/or Z6. I believe video is a step up, but not sure about lens selection for video. Again this is a GAS attack and looking for opinions and comments.
The 28-300 is a good lens, not great, but a good lens to keep on the camera. The D810 is a great camera. I've been shooting Nikon for many years and have many lenses to choose from, but the 28-300 stays on my D810 most of the time.
Like you I have been trying to reduce wait. My goto camera has been my Nikon D810, but I started to look at mirrorless cameras. I started with the Sony a6000, excellent photos and small lens, but hated the menu system. I bought a Fuji X-t20 and a couple of kit lenses, it is now my go to camera for travel and fun stuff. My D810 is still my studio and professional photo shoot camera. You will not regret the X-T20, especially with the upcoming firmware upgrade. The X-T20 is a fun camera with great photo results.
Dynamic range, highlights, and cropping are very behind the times. These pics are very cropped and not even close to the pictures I take with my D810. I'm considering the D500 for the speed and autofocus. The D850 is currently out of my price range at this point in time. Also this is the first time I shot this camera in 7 or 8 years.
I dug out my D300 and the Nikon batteries, not used for at least 7 years, and the Nikon batteries still had a charge in them. Go figure.
Thanks for the reply. Dynamic range has really come along way in the last couple of years. One of the biggest changes in camera, TV's, etc.
I'm thinking about shooting with some of my older cameras, a D300 (not the s version) and a D200 and check results against my newer gear. I'm going use some VR lenses, which I don't think I had when I was shooting with those cameras, and some non-VR lenses. I was wondering if anyone has done any testing with older digital cameras and what their results have been? The D300 was one of my favorite cameras.
