Fuji firmware update 2.0 for X-T5 and X-T4 - issue with flash

Okay, this is new...I just installed the new firmware updates for both the X-T5 and the X-T4, and now the shoe mounted flash does not want to work.

When I go into the screen menu, under the "Flash Function Setting" menu you can see it says "off" - and I can find no way to change that. No turning of dials, pressing of buttons or waving os chicken bones has produced results. I have not had problems using the flash function out of the box (that is, I really have never had to go into this menu before), so it's not as if I made some change that killed the flash function.

Meanwhile, something quite similar has happened with the X-T4 - in here, though I can change the setting from "OFF" to "M", but that's it.

Have I missed something here? Is there a new step that must be done. Both upgrades progressed as normal; no hitches in the process.

Is it possible Fuji screwed the pooch here? Rather frustrating, I must say.

TIA for any guidance anyone can give...

Do the XT4 and XT5 have both Mechanical and Electronic Sutters? I have Fuji X100T and the Flash only functions when using the Mechanical Shutter. Otherwise the Flash On-Off is greyed out. The menus on my X100T are very different looking.

I updated my X-T5 on day 1 (not always the best choice), but my Godox TT685 flash works fine. Fijifilm did pull back the firmware for some of their other cameras. Subject tracking seems improved, but still needs work.

I think the problem may be with Fuji. I also recieved notice of a firmware update for the GFX100S a few days ago. When I went to the site this morning to update the system I found a notice on their web page indicating that there was a problem discovered with the firmware and that it had been withdrawn. They forcast that it will be available by the 31st. Personally I plan to wait till later in June. I don't know if this applies to your X line cameras or not but it sounds familiar. I'd suggest you go back to the web site and check. Good luck.

Thanks to all who replied...

So, yes, certainly part of this was user error (D'Oh!) - I had set the shutter to ES (electronic only) for something I was shooting a couple of days before, but after I had used the flash without incident. But still, the menus on the flash section do seem to have changed and do not seem to work - even now I cannot alter the settings for TTL mode or Angle (though I can dial between front and rear shutter sync on the SNC button). Curious.

However, now I can get stuff done with the flash, at least. So again, thanks all
