I am new to this site although I have been watching it with interest for several weeks. I am retired military and for years have been, at best, a casual photographer.

Due to health issues I am looking to downsize my cameras as I have been doing some traveling. I currently have a Canon EOS 60D, and am looking at a Fujifilms X-T20. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

What is your budget? What do you enjoy shooting (wildlife, landscapes, portraits, family photos, etc...)?

Welcome to UHH. Yes, the Fujifilm X-T20 is a good camera. What lens will you get for it?

Lots of high quality fixed lens camera out there for $1000 or less. If you're going to travel, I'd do that instead of packing around multiple lenses. I'm not one to advocate a 10-2000 mm zoom range on a fixed lens camera. A simple wide to moderate telephoto is good enough for me. With quality glass in and a quality sensor you can do pano's or crop in post with adequate results to get a wider wide or closer zoom.

I’ll start with the two lenses that come with the camera and, hopefully, graduate to a prime lense and a longer telephoto.

Thanks. The Fuji lenses are compact and lightweight, not taking much space but, appear to be of good quality.

I love my T7i! Have had no problems and reasonably simple to use.

The XT-20 is a wonderful camera. Check out the Omar Gonzales tutorial videos on YouTube.

I have Fujifilm XT-20 and a Nikon D810. They are both very good yet quite different in both feel and use. The Fujifilm is quite small and so are the buttons so my hands tend to touch buttons and screen when I don't intend to. The buttons on the Fujifilm are also more flush to the frame than the Nikon which I prefer for it is easier to find them while looking through the view finder. The touch screen on the Fujifilm is handy but most of the time I keep it turned off. The Fujifilm's battery does not last nearly as long as the Nikon D810's so carry charged spares. The Fujifilm takes excellent quality photos and they make very good lenses. With an Metabones adapter I can use all of my Nikon lenses on the Fujifilm XT-20 although it is manual focus. The Fujifilm makes an excellent travel and walk-around camera and it is more discrete and people tend to be less leary of you than carrying a larger rig. IMHO you would do well with either of your choices.

Like you I have been trying to reduce wait. My goto camera has been my Nikon D810, but I started to look at mirrorless cameras. I started with the Sony a6000, excellent photos and small lens, but hated the menu system. I bought a Fuji X-t20 and a couple of kit lenses, it is now my go to camera for travel and fun stuff. My D810 is still my studio and professional photo shoot camera. You will not regret the X-T20, especially with the upcoming firmware upgrade. The X-T20 is a fun camera with great photo results.

So far, I am pleased with my X T20, albeit a learning curve. You did comment about a firmware update. How does one know about them and how are they acquired?

There are several very active Fuji XT-20 Facebook pages that keep subscribers up to date on things like firmware updates and links to tutorials.
