Not sure where Schaumburg is but in St. Louis we have Creve Couer Camera and they offer camera specific classes or you can do 1 on 1 classes and you get to chose what is taught. Look for a local camera store, they probably offer classes. Enjoy your new toy!

At a Camera Club meeting someone brought this up, so I thought I would share. On October 3, 2015 there will be a Worldwide Photo Walk, cities throughout the world have organized small groups to come to together and take pictures while walking in a common place in your city. this Walk is sponsored by Scott Kelby, there are prizes if you summit a photo you took on the walk and win. This event is free and usually limited to 50 participants per city. You do have an option to donate a dollar to help an Orphanage in Kenya, but not necessary. Check out the site and see if there is a walk near you. In St. louis there are 3 walks that are close.

If you have a local camera store rent a Canon and Nikon Camera and try them out, see what you like and what you don't. Also look for a local Camera Club, and go to a few meetings and outings and talk to people.
