I am wondering if shooting in cold weather (e.g., snow) affects the operation of a Mirrorless camera - if any.
I have used my DSLR for many years in cold weather...no issues. (I'm just thinking it's about time for new camera since I'm planning a trip to Japan)

I have BEEN using mirrorless cameras (Olympus OMD-ME10-I, Sony A7r3, Sony alpha1 for the last 7 years and I have not had issues in extremes of temperature here in Northeast USA. I started using lens warmer because that is where you might encounter some issues like lens fogging or zoom adjustment being stuck. Camera makers surely know these concerns of either extreme heat or cold and before the new model goes into production, they have been tried and tested. It probably matters after you are outside in the very very cold environment for extended period of time that you need to warm up your camera body like revving up your car engine early in the cold winter days before going to work.

How hard is the walk for an uncrippled 65 year older?

Thank God, you are a Sony user. I'm not buying another camera until A7r5 comes out. Going on Safari adventure when this COVID dissipates to just like ordinary flu, maybe next year. How is your experience with 200-600 f5.6-6.3?

Yes I remember the year I was in 3rd grade and there were only 2 of us left handed in a class of 30 students.
With my young mind, I reasoned out that I cannot be a minority leftie. So on my own volition, I started writing with my right hand. Its like going to a foreign land and learn a new culture. I have been a righty since but I can still write with my left hand like a 3rd grade writes.

Dexterity is a nice asset. There are things that my left hand is more skilled in doing and what my right hand can.
For instance, I tie the shoe lace or throw a ball with my left hand but I hold the kitchen knife or scissors with my right.

And also, It is a fact that the artists are have a better developed right side of the brain. However, I prefer to be
ambidextrous.

Was that when Iran held 55 US embassy employees in Teheran?
We are always under their threat. It took a Hollywood Gringo to
crush their nuts.

Thanks for your input and past experience. My dream is to do the same thing from NJ to LA when I retire in 2022.

Yes its a risk to be exposed and the gravity depends upon your body's resistance to fight it.
Believe me I was in the frontline in March, April, May - 3 months at the peak of vulnerability
but with proper PPE attire, I'm still covid negative X4.
Everything is common sense, wear your mask, wash your hands, wear gloves, done rub your nose or your eyes
with bare hands. Used paper towel when you open and close the door knob of public restrooms.

It depends how healthy you are or how your health is compromised.
If you are diabetic or have COPD or on Chemo then you are definitely a high risk
and I strongly advice you to stay away from danger.

I was out in upstate NY for workshop 2 weeks ago, purely outdoors and I'm ok.
My son lives in Boston and life goes on in the city
Wear a good and reliable N95 mask and wear gloves all the time if you have access
Wipe your car steering wheel with alcohol wipes every time you get back in.
Discard your gloves in a plastic bag or ziplock bags

Get out, click, enjoy life. Tomorrow may never come

Thank you for the reminder. 3 out of 12 you mentioned, I did not do (yet)
1. Jpeg + RAW to RAW only. I know the combination is a memory eater but it is easier to fast check the Jpeg before discarding my poor shots. I use 256g X2 cards every time I go out so that should be sufficient then I download the images to my Sandisk 2T SSD external drive. Upgrading to 3T when the price go down.

2. Film? I have not even dared to use it since my kids graduated from HS. I'm now in my 60s.
3. Culling my collection? I'll do it when I retire.

I was Nkon fanatic from college to when my older son entered college. He is now 32.
Then I switched to Canon 5DMK3 with Canon L lenses because when I subscribed to the Digital Camera mag, British edition, I observed that most of their European photographers use Canon Camera and lenses.
I have noticed the difference in Canon L optics and I thought the price is commensurate to its innovative excellence. I still like my camera but I needed a second one for travel.

Sony had evolved from its Minolta prototype and their technical superiority have surpassed that of Nikon and Canon. I read an article not too long ago that Nikon uses Sony sensors for their DSLRs.

Canon is making strides to compete with Sony but they are definitely strides apart. Sony listens to its herd of professional followers and has been very receptive to suggestions. My Sony A7RIII has not failed me and I have used it in my travels to South America and the Baltic. It is water resistant and I have used it without cover when we were tendered from the MV Australis to the nearby glaciers, and also during our adventure at Perito Moreno Glacier. It is not as bulky as my 5DMK3 and the Sony 24-240 mm lens fit just perfectly.

Although it is enticing to buy the R5, I will stick with my Sony for now. I just used it during my workshop for Milky Way 2 weeks ago and I had the most spectacular shot by the waterfalls in Adirondack. This time my lens was the Sigma 14-24 mm F2.8 Art lens.

That's a shocking news but that's his preference, however,
It does not matter what camera you use. Its your creativity
and that "perfect moment in time" when you were there at the right
time to shoot that scene of your dream.

We were aboard the funicular ascending to the summit of Mount Solara
when I aimed my Nikon D200 at the mountain village on my left side window,
the Coast of Amalfi below me. The timing was early morning and the sky
was not overcast. Naturally, the outcome was spectacular.

Megapixel matters in the DSLR now but I think the post processing helps a lot.
I use PS/ACR all the time and for color processing, I touch up with ON1 or
Luminar 4. This is where your Creativity fills up the gap.
