[An Epic 26th Wedding Anniversary Roadtrip]

We're currently in the development stages of an epic 26th anniversary roadtrip to parts unknown. I say unknown, because due to safety concerns, All I can tell you is that we're planing the trip and it's going to take approx 3 weeks to complete.

We've been keeping an eye on several weather, climate, jet stream, fire, smoke and air quality charts and most importantly the fall foliage chart. For the last 5 years, the fall colors have went from green to brown without mush variation. Although this roadtrip doesn't fall exactly on our wedding anniversary, Times have been tough, work was slow for a few years and of course the pandemic hit. Yet we haven't been totally cooped up, taking small local weekend trips into other states.

This year, with the help of a few of these sites, I'm predicting the fall colors are going to be gang busters. Best take the necessary perpetration for this big event. Here's a few links we've been checking and may benefit you as well.

Our last epic roadtrip took place back in 2014 where we drove a doorless jeep wrangler from North Eastern Maryland to Colorado and why did drive from here to there? just to see the John Denver Sanctuary in Aspen, CO. We braved temps in the low 40's one min, (14,000 Feet) then in the high 100's the next min.(Texas/Oklahoma) Crossing through 14 different states with a total fuel cost of $1,800 Camping all the way.

This time around and because the Canadian boards are still closed, (or we would have went in that direction) we've secluded a few deliberate stops along our route. Glass blowing shops, steel mill shops, pottery shops, general stores, selected retailers and manufacturing locations. A trip with a purpose. Camping this year, is out of the question due to physical limitations.

One of the best things about this trip, is that this will be the first time we'll use our Offline Maps & Navigation App for direction. Avoiding major highways and major cities is going to be a must. We may even take a few off road trails to get from one location to another. Although we have a starting point and an end point a few shop stops, the entire route is going to be made up by the navigator.

Something else I've been working on. Many of you may or may not know that I've been testing a space age yellow material as a 85mm filter for my Cokin adapter. Plus I'm very excited about the first test ever for my new fixed (roughly 35% polarization effect) polarization filter which I've been developing for the last 3 years. If successful, I may offer one or both of these filter for sale on this and other sites.

Otherwise, Once we finalize the trip, load up the Jeep and actually get started, I can't say anymore till have particular parts of our journey have been completed. So DAMN the torpedoes!

See you on the trail.

Nice road shot there. A 35% polarization to a UV filter sounds like a winner.

@a6k

The objective it to let others know that this year is going to be a big year for fall colors. Planning or making preparations to scope out locations to witness these color changes needs to be done now. We've already reserved our rooms, Have you?

@Fotoartist

Sounds like a plan, though a bit skeptical. We will see how well this fixed polar filter works.

Here in Colorado the prediction is that the fall color is going to be a week or two earlier than usual. Our fall color in the Rockies is often magnificent but as with everywhere, it varies from year to year.

Thanks for your input and past experience. My dream is to do the same thing from NJ to LA when I retire in 2022.
