It's not for existing guns, it is an option that exists already for a new gun. It is not about control, or blaming guns and not people, it is an attempt, a small step in creating a safer place to live. Licensed and responsible gun owners are usually not the problem, but what to do about the problem? It exists. Innocent people are effected each day in this country by gunfire. Accidental, wrong place wrong time, however it is couched the fact remains that we as a society have problems when children are harmed just walking to school. What is there to disagree about in that?
It's not a "tracking device," it is technology where a coded wrist band is connected to a particular gun so the wearer of the wrist band can operate that one gun, and without the wrist band the gun can't fire. It is a key, that's all.
No one is coming for your guns.
Hi Droper, welcome. I too am a relative newcomber to the DSLR world, I have a D5300. I used, among other things,
www.KenRockwell.com to help me set up my camera. There are step by step suggestions on how to do that and use the camera in the P mode and that combined with the magic of the camera have yielded some nice results. I am learning how to use the settings manually as well, but in the meantime I am happy with how my camera is set up. Check out the site and good luck.
Hi Bud Root, I too joined well before I first posted something and I too am not a robot. I think Lighthouse is a bit upset at things in general and you just crossed his searching gaze. I was warmly welcomed and have enjoyed checking into the UG each day, though I often don't have much to add. So welcome.
Your assumptions on someones behavior and your insights into their motivations are rather harsh, I think.
Take off the tin foil hat and enjoy the sunshine.
Hi There. I am new to Nikon as well, but also new to the whole DSLR world. A friend turned me on to this site and it had helped me get set up an also to begin the long journey to understanding.

Thanks HowardPepper, I'll add that to my Christmas list. And thanks to everyone who has welcomed me so generously to this forum. It's nice.
Hi there, I am new to Ugly Hedgehog. I found the site quite by accident while randomly looking around for easy to read help with my new Nikon D5300. I seem to have stumbled onto something interesting. I am a custom home builder and woodworker, most of my photos are for finished work to post on my website. I love my new camera and look forward to being able to take it off the "P" mode, thanks for all of the good talk here.
