My Epson XP-820 is terrible. Frequently prints with an ink splash on the image if not used for a while & print heads cannot be removed for cleanng. I am going to go for the Canon Pro 100 which seems to have the most positive reviews on this forum

Even a SSD can fail. I bought a 2TB San Disk & it failed on first use. They replaced it of course. So I would say at least have more than one backup to minimize the likelihood of losing photos. When they are gone they are really gone!

Nothing is absolutely safe unless you are in a cocoon. Since this virus is highly contagious and totally invisible there is always a risk. You will no doubt encounter people who are not wearing masks in the street and all it takes is a little wind to make nonsense of the recommended 6 foot social distancing recommendation. If you are looking through or at your camera and concentrating on something, you may not even see them. As a retired physician, I am hunkering down at home. Just my two cents worth.

Yes the transfer was easy although the dates of my folders were all wrong at first & I thought I was going to change each one of many hundreds manually, but to my surprise when I opened Photos next time the dates were correct

As a follow-up to what I thought was going to be a lengthy process of re-dating every folder in Photos, having transferred them from Aperture, the next time I opened Photos, miraculously all the folders were dated correctly and matched the metadata! Thanks to the people who offered their advice.

The dates shown in Photos is earlier than the actual date images were made.

Having migrated my aperture library to Photos and subsequently seeing Aperture disappear after upgrading to Catalina on my Mac I discovered that the dates assigned to the different folders in Photos were all incorrect. I was able to open Aperture again using some unapproved software, but cannot print from it.

I don't see how one can change the dates of the folders in Photos, does anyone have any ideas?

As a physician who has cared for a lot of elderly people who have undergone cataract surgery, my take is this: most people are happiest with the basic lenses and some will need corrective glasses in addition as these lenses are fixed focal length, whereas a healthy natural lens adjusts its focus. Of course most of that is lost well before the cataract surgery as the lens hardens as well as opacifies. Some people who opt for the more expensive option are happy with their choice but others have regretted it and of course there is additional expense. Having one lens for near vision and one for distant vision loses the binocular vision that one gets with both lenses being the same, but the more expensive option may avoid the need for wearing glasses in addition. In general there are very few complications and improvements are dramatic.

Currently all my photos are stored in Aperture. I know this topic has been aired before, but most of what I can read dates from 2014 and also focuses only on conversion to LR. I am currently using a Mac running Yosemite. When it is time for my computer to be replaced will Aperture still work on whatever current operating system is in use and do I need to do something now to guarantee that I will be able to use another program to edit my pictures? I do not do enough editing to warrant a subscription to LR. Is it possible that Aperture will not open with a future operating system? Photos are backed up on a SSD and an external hard drive but are still in the Aperture format. I have Capture NX-D & View-NX-i as well as Nikon Picture Control Utility 2 which I acquired when I bought my D7500 but not played with them at all.

Thanks for the input. My reversing ring is a BR-2. Does anyone know of a source for a BR-2A ring? RWR- do you mean that if I attach my old extension tubes from the same era to the camera there will be no problem?
