I had just gotten my DSLR and was trying to photograph a family wedding rehearsal. however my camera did not know where to focus as people were coming down the aisle. I was so frustrated because I knew the pictures for the next day we're going to be terrible. That night I went online to figure out how I could fix my focus problems when I came up on a site that told me about back button focusing. I set it up that night and I have never looked back. Eventually I also learn how to turn up my shutter speed and adjust my ISO and aperture accordingly in order to get sharper photos. This all takes time but it is well worth learning.

I have been there and it is a trip worth the time and money. Shop pictures with my Nikon D 3100 using my two Kit lenses... 18 to 55 / 55 to 200. The lowest aperture on the first one is a 3.5 and the pictures turned out fine. Did use occasional Flash but not much.

A lot of Photography comes down to drive and obviously you have it or you wouldn't be out taking pictures . so Keep On Keepin On and here's a few tips ... One night I hogtied a photographer friend of mine to look at my photos. He only looks for a half an hour but he gave me invaluable advice. So find a friend who is more experienced and believe me that will help you a lot. Also go buy yourself a DVD that explains your camera. I am not talking about something that explains the manual. I mean something that tells you how to focus, how to use your F stop, where your settings are , Etc. I bought a blue crane digital 5 years ago and probably watched it maybe 50 times. Why? Because number one to becoming a photography master is learning your camera. so keep up the good work and have fun.

One feature of the Nikon that Canon does not have is the nef processor which allows you to touch up your photos inside the camera before you load them to the computer. Well some prefer to Simply use Photoshop, I prefer to do both. Believe me it really makes a difference and I only have a Nikon D 3100.
