Absolutely love it! And love the minds that can create this humor.

As an old English teacher I say (and all should know this) spelling and grammar are the key to understanding. Otherwise misspelling is misunderstanding. Bad grammar identifies (usually) you as poorly educated, as a sloppy thinker, or as easily misunderstood.

[Really good shots. Certainly grabbed my mind and stirred tranquil memories of similar scenes. Thanks for the experience.

[quote=CapturedByChristy]Thank you Mike. ... And be careful what ya wish for! I have quite a lot in my collection haha! But you have given me an idea about a photo project I could do, featuring a photo of each of my pieces! My family has always teased me about my rock obsession, but I am finding out that there are LOTS of fellow rock hounds out there. Thanks for your nice comment![/quot

I don't want to disagree with your warning but... I will throw it back at you with my thousands of rocks! Unfinished as well as the many that I finished (those that I still have anyway)Your threat may well encourage me to set up my setup for photographing rocks. (been planning doing it for a couple of years now) Even more I might find the energy to bring my rock saw home and get back to work. So-I re-wish my wish! If you should wish to bypass the forum my email is stepha11@telus.net
Tell me more about your planned project, please.

Awww thank you, Tim! I have quite a rock collection now ... I will keep in mind that you enjoy the rock/gem photos and post some photos of my personal collection sometime!!

Very good pictures of difficult subjects- lighting etc-. Please do post more rocks from your collection.
Before age interrupted I did rock work- rock to jewelry- but now just have great interest in rocks and others interest in them.

Thanks,stepha11, sounds like you were raised on a dairy farm. Times have certainly changes; although our electricity went out last week due to a wind storm; our fireplace and that lantern came in handy.

You guessed almost right. Dairy was the main income but we were a general farm like most of the thirties' farms.
Didn't get electricity until 1944 though this northern MN rural area (Beltrami county-Bemidji area) now has underground service which now never has to worry about wind or electrical storms. Thanks to REA! And great management.
I repeat-Loved the picture.

I like! I also see possibly four good opportunities for great still life pictures-any of the items shown could be great shots.
As an extra comment-I remember when a lantern like that was our only light for chores-like milking cows or any night time doings outside.

No teacher up to at least 80 years ago would ever write those on a report card. As an x-teacher I sure wold have liked to. Some very gifted person made them up-and I sincerely thank them for doing so-very funny!

As a fellow old barn shooter, I say this is a really good photo or more likely outstanding! A pretty good old barn as well.

Easy solution. Here in BC we have bear problem. My bird feeder goes up out of their reach summers and down in the winter. Safe unless you get the big bear who can reach over eight feet. Happened once.

After observing for several years various comments here and there, I think the wisest and best comments here are from Maine. Always sensible and to the point. Thank you.

This is one of my two minute exposures taken from the breakwater at Grand Marais on the Lake Superior North Shore. I took several 2-3 minute exposures at that location and found during PP that there was some very slight camera movement on about half of them. I learned that it is necessary to minimize the tripod leg extensions even tho I was using a good medium weight tripod. Expensive lesson but a good one never-the-less. It was all I could do to carry my camera and tripod on the rocks, much less weights to hang on the tripod.

Why not a mesh bag (easily home-made and easy to carry)? Seemed to have a good source for weight to add to the mesh bag.
