This is one of my two minute exposures taken from the breakwater at Grand Marais on the Lake Superior North Shore. I took several 2-3 minute exposures at that location and found during PP that there was some very slight camera movement on about half of them. I learned that it is necessary to minimize the tripod leg extensions even tho I was using a good medium weight tripod. Expensive lesson but a good one never-the-less. It was all I could do to carry my camera and tripod on the rocks, much less weights to hang on the tripod.
This image is magnificent. But regarding the the disappointing exposures, what do you figure caused the movement?
Thanks for looking in Bob.

Thanks. I'm certain it was wind. It was pretty windy that day (good wave action tho). I usually hang ballast (camera bag) on the tripod in those conditions, but there was no way I could carry a heavy bag along with camera and tripod on those wet and slippery rocks. I had the tripod legs about half way extended and think if they had not been extended at all there probably would have been no camera movement.

The rocks do look a mite treacherous. Thanks for posting the great picture and for the education too!!

Why an expensive lesson?
Ha, I live in Omaha and stayed a week in deluxe accommodations (Blue Fin Inn) plus two nights in Minneapolis while on the North Shore. Probably won't get up there again.

Could have been worse, camera/tripod could have toppled down to the rocks below!

Nice picture
Thank you crafterwantabe. Minnesota is a beautiful state, just not sure I would want to winter over on the North Shore.
