I visit here often...I live a little over an hour away. My #1 "favorite spot" for photo shoots is Sand Harbor...located on the Northeast / Nevada side...about 5 miles south of Incline Village. Early morning or sunset for iconic photos!

As stated in the other posts...the entire Tahoe Lake area has tons of offerings...not to mention the sheer beauty!! Enjoy your visit!

Here are a couple recent (snow) images from earlier this year.

Internationally recognized iconic photographer..."Master" of post-processing..."Creator" of the universally accepted and utilized "Zone System"...

Famous quotes of Ansel Adams...

"There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs."

"I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I will live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop."

"Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art!"

And my FAVORITE..."You don't 'take' a photograph...you 'make' it!"

I know there are a lot of folks who still shoot film and there's even a "new" interest in film...however, I've finally realized that I'm not going the film route anymore. (My D200 has served me well...hoping to upgrade to the new D750.)

I'm offering my F100 & 70-300 f4-5.6 ED AF zoom. Both are in excellent condition and are in the original boxes...with strap and manuals.

Nikon F100..................$185
Nikkor 70-300 ED AF...$125

See photos...rubber on bottom of camera is tweeked a little from being mounted to tripod 99% of the time (landscape shooter).
Glass is clean and scratch free.

Both for $310...I pay shipping. PayPal works best.

Please PM if you have any questions.

Thank you!!

Not sure I understand a variable ND isn't good for slow shutter speeds.

I'm sure it will...my response related to "fixed" ND filters and the ability to "create the same effect in PP". Still not sure how one could create my sample image in PP...regardless of the type of ND filter used. I've never used a VARIABLE ND filter.

Here's another example...

Thanks your picture puts a few things in perspective.

May I ask, what was the shutter speed? Those fans turn rather slow but you show movement like they are really moving.

Actually, it was blowing so hard, I had to stand next to my tripod to help block the wind... shutter speed was 1/30...any slower and the blades disappeared...any faster and I couldn't achieve the "fan" effect. If you notice, the small "old style" windmill's blades are one complete circle...it was really humming!!

I'm pretty sure he means a graduated ND filter effect in PP which is possible. I would however disagree with saying a variable ND is the best way to go for longer exposure

You're right...I stand corrected...thank you! :D

B+W filters are great quality. A circular variable ND filter is fine to enable you to shoot at slower speeds. Graduated ND filters are fine but remember this can be achieved in PP and works great. If you're looking to get a longer exposure a circular variable ND is the way to go.

Not sure how you could achieve this effect in PP...?

Nikon D200, 18-200, ISO100, F/22, S/.6, Tiffen ND .9 stacked on CP, tripod.

Hey Hogs! First off, as a "serious amateur", I want to thank you ALL for the great information I've learned on this site...it's my daily treat!

I'm headed to Maui in Sept. and have been researching underwater cameras in anticipation of shooting and videoing underwater. There will be a group of us so will also shoot typical day & night fun stuff. Of course, I'll be using my Nikon DSLR for scenic/landscape shots.

Main concerns are: image quality, low light capability, HD video with slow-mo feature, image stabilization and a modest budget not to exceed $300(hopefully)...spent all my money on DSLR equipment, airfare-room-food-you know the drill!

Your experience / knowledge is much appreciated!

Thank You!!
