I just purchased a Macbook Pro M1 for my photography needs. I should have done more research. First I find that my Canon printers (a wide format and an all in one) are not compatible. No matter how they are configured, I cannot select paper type (only photo paper). Same result for Photoshop or Apple Photos. Second , some of my photoshop plugins that I frequently use will not install. It does not matter which version of Photoshop that I use.
Unfortunately, I will be returning this item.

If you are anything like me, you will be sorely disappointed! I graduated from High School in Flagstaff, a short drive north of Sedona, in 1972. It's ruined now!!

You are so right. It is so overcrowded now you can hardly drive through town. And they want to bring more tourists there. It's amazing what greed will do.

This is a composite. Foreground shot many years ago with a Canon S70. Moonshot taken recently with Canon SX60. Sky replacement (moon) done with Luminar. I am looking for opinions. BTW my camera club did not like it at all.

My first thought is visiting Sedona.

Sedona in February is GRIDLOCK. Spring break time and terribly overcrowded.
I live there and refuse to go into town (parking lot) during that time.

A good photographer can use any type of camera. A great photographer doesn’t need photoshop to fix his mistakes.

I totally agree with you.👍

Last night a friend of my was showing me pictures of his grandmother, grandfather and other members of his family tree. Pictures were taking some time around 1947 or 1948. The pictures are in color. The pictures had too much blue in them. Film aged? No filter on the camera at the time to filter out the color blue?

I don't know about print film. However when I scanned in slides from the 1950's. Kodachrome was perfect. Any slides I took with Ektachrome all turned blue,

I see this question so many times: My answer is I don't :
I use the K.I.S.S method:
1: Make a folder /subject/date/location on the desktop (My System is an iMac, worked the same on Windows)
2: Insert CF/ SD card into reader, open files and drag into desktop Folder.
3: Remove card and reformat in camera,( After checking to be sure the files transferred)
Images are now on the computer!
4:View images in Bridge or Adobe Camera RAW, Edit and save in same folder.
5:When finished editing and posting, drag folder into three external HD's, Nothing is saved on my C: drive.
When I need to find an image I turn on the external drives locate my image/s, do whatever and turn drives off.
This has been working for me for 20+ years, I have never lost photos due to a glitch or hitting a wrong key
When I change computers All my files are still where I left them.
Now I am not saying this is the only way. I know its not good for Professional Photographers or businesses.
But It is simple!!!

I always import into date shot folder (yyyy_mm_dd) using Nikon Transfer. I have been doing this for years. I have not found another program that will import with the underscore format. However it will only import raw from Nikon. When I use other cameras I have to import manually in my folder. Since I mostly shoot JPEG, this is not an issue, If anyone knows of a program that will import yyyy_mm_dd please let me know.

In my Nikon DLRs and Z9 I use YYYYMMDD format.

When I download the images to my laptop or desktop, both window pcs, I use Downloader Pro. It allows me to create a file folder name of my choice and file names of my choice.

My File folder name is date and "job code" specific: 20220821_Backyard Birds as an example. The fie name for images that appear in that folder are 220821_Backbard birds_01.NEF. The file number is changed for each image downloaded.

You enter the Job Code in Preferences each time you use the program. Other options exist.

I believe Nikon Transfer in NX Studio will do the same thing. And it is free.

Thanks, Nikon Transfer works ,but will only import Nikon RAW images, not others

Not clear on the details. Are you still using the Canon ZooBrowser (I am not familiar with that software) to import your photos from 'other brand' cameras? Or are you importing and changing the file name to include your desired format?

As long as LR will recognize a raw file, it shouldn't matter what the filename is as long as it has the correct extension. Not sure what 'other software' you are referring to.

I use several cameras (Sony A6400, Canon G15, Lumix ZS100, and Leica TYP 114). I have always used the
yyyy_mo_dd format for folders and do not wish to change. I've looked for other software that will import in that format but haven't found any. It seems that the yyy-mo-dd is preferred, but I do not wish to change my may years of imports.

Sorry. It was ZoomBrowser and I no longer use it. I currently use Nikon Transfer because it allows the date with underscores. When I import RAW, I use Bridge and then convert the folder name to underscores..a real pain!

Hi.....I have a few cameras that I shoot with, sometimes in the same session or occasion. Old and not so old, I try not to let them sit idle for too long. Like most cameras, they have a User Settings / Set-Up Menu that offers the following choices/formats for recording the shot date:
YY/MM/DD;
MM/DD/YY;
DD/MM/YY;
I just checked; and set all of them to the same format. Silly Me, I was having trouble sorting my catalog and web-display page by date? I think part of the problem was due to the different date formats I had been inadvertently using. I might be the only multi-camera user that made this little mistake....so my epiphany and lesson learned is…make sure to use the same date format on all cameras you shoot with.....consistency has it;s benefits!

I have a problem with dates. I started in the early 2000's using a Cannon digital with their ZooBrowser it imported photos in the following format (yyyy_mo_dd). I later switch to Nikon cameras using View NX and NX-i (Nikon Transfer) with same format. I still use that format to organize photos. Current problem with other brand cameras is if I shoot jpeg, it still works...but not for raw. Lightroom, Bridge and other software will not let me import in that format. After so many years, I am not interested in changing my organizational format.

Legacy versions of Adobe software can be found on eBay, but the consensus here seems to be that, even if technically possible, the purchase and activation of LR 6 in 2022 is just not prudent, since Adobe has discontinued any support for this application. So keep what you have, go with the subscription plan or find another product to use.

BTW You won't find any software that you can "use forever."

I disagree.I have a program that came with Windows 3.1 (Print Artist) that I still use today.It will run on a 32 bit windows. I use Oracle's Virtual Box, run a Windows XP system, use the system configured with only that program and a print driver. Works fine. Up until Windows 10 came, I ran it on Windows 7 (32 bit)
