It appears that Fuji with the X-T1 does deliberately underexpose its RAW files as per the following article:
https://photographylife.com/does-fuji-cheat-with-its-sensors

This makes me feel a lot better.

Do you belong to the FujiX-Forum....

Fuji X camera's appear to be somewhat under represented here.

Yes I do belong and have posed the question there as well. I have found that the problem is related to uploading raw+jpg pictures to the iPad. Raw photos or jpg photos by themselves are fine.

Have you tried raw only? JPG only? Could it be that the issue is raw+jpg & Ipad transfer corrupting the file set?

Even with the raw+jpg the jpg's are fine. I will try raw only and see if it makes a difference.

Can the op post an image of the example?

Can't post image - I corrected the exposure in Capture 1.

Even shooting raw+jpg, you end up with two separate files with the same name, different extension, so you should see both, however the iPad may have problems dealing with the raw.

Sounds strange for sure.

I know that you end up with two separate files, but that is not the case when you upload to the iPad.

Odd, a JPG is a JPG is a JPG...

I think that the problem is that I am shooting raw+jpg for each photo and when I upload the photos to the iPad it only shows the jpg even though the raw photo is also there.

I tried another transfer program, but it would not even recognize the X-T1 jpegs on the iPAD. I may try emailing Fujifilm to see if they have any ideas.

I would then say that the issue is within the IPAD or during the transfer. Especially if loading from the SD card to the Mac works fine.

Are you near an Apple store where someone more knowledgable with raw & ipads can help?

I believe that the problem is in the transfer program, not in the iPad or the MacBook.

If you can view a raw file in Finder, then your Apple DCR is OK - so now the issue is Adobe Camera Raw - make sure you have the correct version installed - if not then Photoshop will not convert it to an image.

What version of Photoshop do you have?

The problem in not Adobe Raw or Capture 1. In fact, the Fuji raw software will not handle the photo that is transferred from the iPad to the MacBook.

Adobe Photoshop is not the problem. If I input the SD card directly into my MacBook there is no problem. The problem occurs when I input the photos into my iPad and then transfer them to my MacBook.

I take all photos with raw+fine. I upload them to my iPad and transfer them to my MacBook Pro. The jpegs are fine, but neither Capture 1 nor Photoshop can recognize the raw file format. I use PhotoSync on both the iPad and MacBook Pro to transfer the photos. Anyone know what the problem can be.

I purchased a Fujifilm X-T1 approximatel 2 weeks ago and I find that it tends to underexpose photos. I find this is true for both raw and JPG of the same subject. I was wondering is others using the X-T1 or other Fujifilm cameras are finding the same thing.
