I take all photos with raw+fine. I upload them to my iPad and transfer them to my MacBook Pro. The jpegs are fine, but neither Capture 1 nor Photoshop can recognize the raw file format. I use PhotoSync on both the iPad and MacBook Pro to transfer the photos. Anyone know what the problem can be.
For Photoshop you need ACR 8.4. What version of Photoshop do you have? I don't know anything about Capture 1.

Do you have at least Apple DCR 5.04 installed on the Macbook? That is what is listed as being needed to support the X-T1 camera.
Adobe Camera Raw needs to be at 8.4 I believe. Current is 8.7
The raw files are fine when I load the SD card directly to the Macbook.
I have the latest version of Photoshop installed.

If you can view a raw file in Finder, then your Apple DCR is OK - so now the issue is Adobe Camera Raw - make sure you have the correct version installed - if not then Photoshop will not convert it to an image.

ANYWAY, if you can view and edit the raw files on the Macbook from the SD card - sounds like an issue in transferring from the IPAD possibly?

There are problems concerning iPads and RAW files:
iPhoto for iOS (iPad): RAW
When you take a photo with a digital camera set to RAW, the resulting photo file contains all the information collected by the cameras sensor. (Images saved as JPEG or TIFF dont include all of that information.) iPhoto can access all of a RAW photos data, giving you more flexibility for adjusting color and exposure.
To edit or print a RAW-format photo, you need an application (such as iPhoto) that can convert the unprocessed RAW photo file to another file format, such as JPEG. A RAW-format photo is sometimes called a digital negativethe photo file contains all the information needed to create an image, but you cant use the file itself as an image. iPhoto imports RAW-format photos and stores all their data. iPhoto also automatically creates JPEG versions, which you can edit or print just as you can any other photo.

Adobe Photoshop is not the problem. If I input the SD card directly into my MacBook there is no problem. The problem occurs when I input the photos into my iPad and then transfer them to my MacBook.

The problem in not Adobe Raw or Capture 1. In fact, the Fuji raw software will not handle the photo that is transferred from the iPad to the MacBook.

I would then say that the issue is within the IPAD or during the transfer. Especially if loading from the SD card to the Mac works fine.
Are you near an Apple store where someone more knowledgable with raw & ipads can help?

I believe that the problem is in the transfer program, not in the iPad or the MacBook.

You very well could be right, all it would take is a very minor change to the file during transfer and it would no longer be a raw file recognized by a raw converter.
I tried another transfer program, but it would not even recognize the X-T1 jpegs on the iPAD. I may try emailing Fujifilm to see if they have any ideas.

Odd, a JPG is a JPG is a JPG...
