Great picture - I have lots of Osprey pictures - but alas mostly in their nest. They are a great bird - maybe I can catch one like that this year.

Google, Google,Google!! Lots of information and comparisons. I concur that a viewfinder is a must. Also hold the camera if you can see how it feels and are the controls comfortable for you. Have you considered a smart phone with a good camera - that way you have both with you, just a thought. Good luck and have fun.

A bridge camera for sure - shop features and price on the net - lots and lots of information there. Besides Canon check out Panasonic,Fuji, Nikon and some others. If you can feel them, see how they fit your hand, are the controls where you would like. As stated above you can get some new last years models at great prices. Make sure you get a viewfinder! Enjoy the process.

Have you considered any of the great bridge cameras? 50X to 60X from Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Panasonic etc. Get on Google and see what is available, price, features etc. Also all of the cameras have many reviews on line - take advantage of them.

I have a Fuji SL1000 Bridge camera. I would like to have a lens hood but it is not equipped for one. Has anybody had any experience with those that are held on with the 3M tape? Any other ideas?

I have the SL1000 and like it a lot. It fits my hands well. I have taken pictures at 50X either hand held or braced on a post or car and they have come out well. The only negatives for me are the slide on/off switch - you have to be firm when sliding it - Also there is no way to put on a filter or lens hood. Since it is discontinued as last years model you should get a great price.

Virtually all major brands have bridge cameras with 50X or more lenses. Each feels different and controls are in different spots. What feels best in your hands is what you should buy. Example - many here like the Canon
SX50 I found it did not fit me well - I ultimately went Fuji. So what works for you - there is no perfect camera. Make sure you get a viewfinder! Have a great trip.

Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Fuji and Nikon all have excellent Bridge cameras with up to 50X and macro. Each is unique and you should hold each if possible to see how it works for you. Lots of comparisons on line - just Google.

If you are going for a bridge camera get one that has at least a 50X lens. Canon, Fuji Nikon, Panasonic and Sony all have them. Each feels different in YOUR hands with different zoom control location. Go on Google and check them all out. I take my Fuji with me most of the time and have gotten some great photos of Osprey at 50X. Take your time and good luck!

I agree with the Bridge camera. Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic, Sony all have great cameras with lens up to 50X or 60X and down to Macro. Make sure you get a viewfinder. Also I strongly suggest reading the pros and cons of each to see which fits your needs and prioe point best (use Google). Also, if possible handle the camera to see how it and the controls work for you - they are all different. If you can't handle the one you think you want buy from a dealer that accepts returns. Good Luck.

Don't overlook Fuji. I have the SL1000 and love it. Big thing is make sure it "fits" your hands - controls, grip etc. And yes by all means a viewfinder. Have a great trip.

All of the above are great ideas but also include the ruins at Tuzigoot National Monument. It is a great area for photo opportunities. BEWARE of the time shares in the area - from one who knows!

I would recommend any one of the many Bridge cameras on the market with 50X or more. It is important that it fits your hands and that the controls are easy to use. For example I found the Canon did not fit me and I chose a Fuji. So either get it where you can hold it or make sure you can return it if you buy on the internet.
