The original idea that the cars be licensed was to derieve an income from them to help pay to build and repair the infrastructure, namely the roads. Vehicles use them, so it is logical to have them help repair the roads they use, and build new roads for the same reason. Licensing came about to make sure the people who are driving know the rules and regulations, plus are able to control the vehicle on the roads. Insueance was not mandatory until recent years but became one by the strong lobbying of the insurance industry. It does nothing to save lives. But it does help the bottom line of the insurence companies. In that same token, insuring guns would have the same effect. It would not save any lives, but would provide extra income for the insurers.
Just like vehicle related deaths, gun related deaths can not be eliminated. Of course, some will say, "on the contrary, take all the guns away and there won't be any gun related deaths". To that I would say, for that kind of solution, take all the vehicles away and there won't be a vehicle related deaths. I wonder how many liberals would part with their cars. So you see, neither is a solution. If you ask me what is the solution, my answer would have to be, I haven't the faintest idea. I'm just here to blow my horn.

Certain individuals feel it necessary to run with the idea that ALL guns should be banned. It just more Doom and Gloom fanatics trying to predict the end of society as we know it.
