If somebody isn't an Obama fan, does that make them a racist? How about O.J. Simpson? What about Idi Amin? Mike Tyson? I never cared much for the type of music Nat King Cole sang so does that make me a racist. But that was pretty much the same kind of music Bing Crosby sang and I didn't like his music either. Now I'm confused. If a black person doesn't like George Bush, does that make HIM a racist?

What makes him a racist, is his multiple posts about the president not making calls to certain people, but if it was a gay or a Muslim terrorist, the president would call. That makes him a racist.

MarkDG he is the same guy who asked why so many bullets were expended in the Boston shootout. I asked him if he had ever been in a fire fight he said no what does that have to do with anything.

It was then that he learned about suppression fire.

The guy is a chicken hawk and one has nothing to fear from him. You describe him in more than adequate terms.

Lastly, every soldier who dies in combat receives a hand delivered telegram that is delivered by a soldier from the defense dept informing the family of the death and expressing gratitude. Each dead soldier is escorted home by a member of the military and given a military funeral.

I'm calling you a liar, because I have never had that conversation with anyone. I am US Marine veteran, and a 20 year veteran of the Massachusetts Department Of Corrections. I very we'll aware of what "suppression" fire is.

That's the problem: the white house did receive information that the embassy was under terrorist attact. And, there is no reason that a real commander in chief should be told to call them. It might have been different if the president was told that Muslim terrorists are attacking the embassy and gay people are inside.

Alright, we all get it, you're a homophobe that hates the president!

I'm Really At A Loss

When a soldier is killed in the line of duty, his family eventually gets a flag and a note conveying sympathy and respect from the United States Government.

When a Black pro basketball player announces he is gay, he immediately gets a personal phone call from the President congratulating him for his courage.

The original idea that the cars be licensed was to derieve an income from them to help pay to build and repair the infrastructure, namely the roads. Vehicles use them, so it is logical to have them help repair the roads they use, and build new roads for the same reason. Licensing came about to make sure the people who are driving know the rules and regulations, plus are able to control the vehicle on the roads. Insueance was not mandatory until recent years but became one by the strong lobbying of the insurance industry. It does nothing to save lives. But it does help the bottom line of the insurence companies. In that same token, insuring guns would have the same effect. It would not save any lives, but would provide extra income for the insurers.
Just like vehicle related deaths, gun related deaths can not be eliminated. Of course, some will say, "on the contrary, take all the guns away and there won't be any gun related deaths". To that I would say, for that kind of solution, take all the vehicles away and there won't be a vehicle related deaths. I wonder how many liberals would part with their cars. So you see, neither is a solution. If you ask me what is the solution, my answer would have to be, I haven't the faintest idea. I'm just here to blow my horn.

But once again, it hasn't been suggested that ALL guns be taken away, it has only been suggested that CERTAIN guns be banned. Certain individuals feel it necessary to run with the idea that ALL guns should be banned. It just more Doom and Gloom fanatics trying to predict the end of society as we know it.

how about other constitutional rights? should we ban "certain" people from voting? like it or not the right to bear arms is constitutional

Yest it is, but that doesn't mean the right to own every gun that's out there. Unfortunately, government does have the authority to limit what guns citizens can own, like it or not.

Sure..that's how it's cloaked for the time being...but that's not the eventual outcome...that's just how things get accomplished...a little at a time. No rights taken away are all taken at one time, nobody would stand for that; they are removed little by little and are justified under the guise of "protecting" and "keeping us safe"

And, after 10 years...we look back and realize how much of our rights have been stripped. By then it's too late to cry about it.

That's speculation on your part, and not much of an argument.

Good...then let's ban "certain" cars...only those who can go (for example) over 50mph... :)

That makes as much sense as the ban on "certain" guns.

There ARE certain vehicles banned from driving on US roads, and it's been that way for many years.

"The people" you're writing about are looking to ban certain guns, not all guns. There's a big difference there.

Anybody local to Ogunquit? Looking for the less obvious photo ops, I know about the Marginal Way and Perkins Cove, restaurant recommendations welcome too, Thanks in advance , Bob.

I have vacationed in that area for 40+ years. The York Animal forest has some great photo ops. Short sands & longs sands (the two beaches in York) are very good. Drive along route 1A and you're sure to find some great shots. In Wells, Me., the jetties at the far end of Wells beach is very nice. You also have the Wells harbour behind it. York Beach has a nice harbour with some beautiful homes over looking it.

If you drive a little further North in to Kennebunk you can get some shots of the Bush estate too.
