Just South in York "Beach" is Nubble Light. The most photographed light house in the world. Also in York is the "Wiggley Bridge". Nearby in Kittery Point is a house with a garage with doors on both sides so you can drive in and drive out the other side aand onto the street without backing up !!!

The "Stolen Menu" in York is named because the breakfast menu is so unique that people steal it is a great place for breakfast.

And if your lucky, you'll see one of the locals riding around with his pet goat beside him in his truck !!!

If they are open yet and you have a good warm day, the "Lobster Pound" on Route ! in Ogunquit is a "rustic outside attraction" serving Maine Lobsta, clams and mussels. There is some inside seating, but the fun is outside in shorts and tee shirt dipping mussels in drawn butter and slurping them down. Pick out your Lobsta, pay by the pound and they'll call out you number when it's done. Cooked right outside in a huge gas fired kettle.

Might stop in Kittery and talk a walk through the Kittery Trading Post.

Also more outlet stores than you can hope to want.

I agree on the Nubble light house, very sweet place for photos, great surf shots and very easy t get to.

A few miles north is Billy's Chowder House..informal and excellent. It's on the road to Well's beach, a right hand turn off Rt. 1. Easy to find.
Also, the beach in Ogunquit has about 4 miles of preserved shoreline. You can't go wrong for early morning, or evening shots.

I have vacationed in that area for 40+ years. The York Animal forest has some great photo ops. Short sands & longs sands (the two beaches in York) are very good. Drive along route 1A and you're sure to find some great shots. In Wells, Me., the jetties at the far end of Wells beach is very nice. You also have the Wells harbour behind it. York Beach has a nice harbour with some beautiful homes over looking it.

If you drive a little further North in to Kennebunk you can get some shots of the Bush estate too.

Me? I'd get on 95 then 295 to Rte. 1 and head toward Boothbay Harbor area, Rockland, Rockport. My favorite places besides Bar Harbor. Kinda depends on how much time you have.

If you ever have the time ,get on US 1 and go north on up into the real Maine. To me the area around Portland and those other tourist towns are nothing more than northern Massachusetts. Go on up to Bath, Rockland, Camden and on up to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park . That is just a start of seeing the "real" Maine. Stay on US1 and go on up to Machias and Lubec and on up to Calais,ME . You will never find any other area on the east coast of the US any more rugged and picturesque than the towns that I have listed here. Then if you really get adventurous, you could drive another couple of hundred miles or so and go all the way to the top of the world at Madawaska,ME . This is as far north as you can go in the US. You will need lots of time and memory cards for your camera. Up there is really the real Maine.
I was so fortunate . I drove a tractor/trailer
for the best part of 40 years before I retired and worked for a furniture manufacturer for 14 years .My delivery territory was Maine, Vermont , and New Hampshire .I have been on every road and most of the streets in all three of those states. If there was a furniture store there, I have been there.
I took a lot of photos thru the windshield back
during those trips. Some came out good and some were not so good. I sure wish that I had the time to stop and photograph some of the sights and things I have seen up there. Hope you and others someday get to see the "real"
Maine.
