I too am afraid to use the traditional Lithium batteries due to fire risk. I have them in numerous drones and eBikes.
There are newer chemistries that are not as energy dense (heavier), so they don't make much sense yet in aviation.
The current chemistry which is much less prone to fires contains Iron ( lifepo4 or LFP). They make sense in homes where weight isn't an issue. They are also popular in RV and boat use, where a little extra weight is worth the reduction in fire risk and the recharging cycles are in the thousands. Golf carts used lead acid batteries which could be recharged 300-500 times and may last 3-5 years. The newer safer batteries cost more but last much longer, so are a better value. Tesla is already using these safer batteries in some models but they or their battery suppliers already have a large investment in the factories to produce the lighter weight chemistries. In a few years most EV cars will have safer batteries. I also have a fear of sharks although I hear that cows kill more people. At least they don't eat us.

I've been thinking how useful GPS is and just bought a USB GPS Dongle so my desktop computer can use programs (weather) that can use Lat & Long. In 1978 I crewed a sailboat to Tahiti that the owner had installed the Omega satellite system on. The Omega could skip lanes by about 20 miles each time, so by the time we got close to French Polynesia, the Omega was 60 miles off course. I had time to learn how to use a sextant, so I trusted it instead. 60 miles is enough to miss an island entirely. We avoided low atolls that were only as tall as their palm trees, due to all the stories of sunken ships on the reefs. I now see YouTube videos of how wonderful those low atolls (Tuamotus) would have been for diving and lagoons. Now days, GPS would allow a boat to find the inlets more safely. I do have a yellow 1971 VW bug in the garage, so maybe I'll install the tape deck to get around if I ever get it running.

Our hot water is solar powered electric with mains back up, for days in a row of not much sun.
BTW - our heater lasted 30 years not 20 as I stated. It was a Solahart

Thanks for the confirmation! Even though the sun heats the water directly which is more efficient, you also have an electric coil in the house tank if you need it. I was just looking for the best solar water heaters this morning and the Solahart came up and sounded impressive. I was also researching if any version would work on a sailboat as well as a house roof. One of the advantages of the solar water collectors is that they take up less space than PV panels to heat the same amount of water. Thank goodness my house doesn't swing around in circles. I'll start on the roof, if the home owners association will allow the additional slope that the tubes require to perform. They already want the PV panels to be flat with the roof slope even though a steeper slope would be better at my latitude.

My solar hot water lasted 23 years and paid for the new one. We're early adopters of solar and sell power to the grid at a high 'legacy rate' ... and our AC is free. When the 'legacy rate' lapses we'll add more panels.

Please confirm that your water heater is electric powered by solar PV panels. You may live in Australia, whereas I live in the US. In many parts of the world, solar water heaters are where the water is heated by the sun. It is a great way to go, especially since many countries give incentives to install the Solar Water Heater. The US govt has no such incentives, therefor they aren't sold here much. This is a pity, as they are very effective.

The way it is supposed to work is that they do take your surplus energy in the daytime and reduce your bill accordingly. At the end of a year, they figure what you used against what you made. If you don't generate as much as you use, then you owe some money. If you generate more than you use, then they don't pay you for it. It's the same in California. If your system is large enough, then you're giving them free electricity. To complicate things in California, the rate that they pay for solar was recently cut to nearly nothing. (Existing systems are grandfathered in at the previous rate.) If you install solar now, then you'll never pay for it. To make matters worse, all new home construction in this state are required to have solar, which will add to the cost of homes. Solar companies are going out of business here.

Its nice to know they are going out of business. I live in southern California and got quotes from several companies in the spring of 2023 (just before the grandfather buyback feature would be reduced by SCE) The California companies were generally 3 times the price as other states in the nation. The cost of electricity is also 3 times the national average, which should make it even more attractive. It only made sense to me to buy it myself and find an install company to assist in installation for it to make financial sense. Of the 3 purchase options, the Rent or Lease, only help the sales company.

I’m not sure what the Win ‘rules’ are; space in the recycle bin are available/ready for reuse {by definition}, but under certain rules.

Yes, I'm not 100% sure what the rules are either, but as opposed to many security cameras that write over the oldest files, the Windows Recycle Bin doesn't do that. I believe it is supposed to send you a "disk" full error message, but some people have problems with Windows not releasing space even after files are deleted and the Recycle bin emptied. Not sure if the problem applies only to Virtual Machines.

Also when you say "purged", be sure to empty the Recycle Bin too. Otherwise the space is still used and applications will still be starved for space.

As others have written... it is likely a capacitor which needs a main battery or AC charger to keep it alive. (my Sony camcorder uses a user replaceable coin battery for time/date). Others have suggested ignoring the date which is the easiest, especially if you date the folder on your computer. If you are in need of a date on the photos, then search for a Batch EXIF data changer to re-write any time/date you want, once they are in a computer folder. There are some free ones to try (InfraView, etc). Probably a trial & error learning curve, so document what steps worked. Good luck! If money is no object, then get it repaired... but I wonder how long it will work. What ever caused the original capacitor to fail may influence any subsequent caps.

What took them so long? A week ago, I ordered 2 SSD drives in the AM and they were delivered the same day at 3 PM. Sometimes I wish I lived in the country, but living in suburbia has a few advantages. Be sure to look to see that the item is stocked by amazon. If it is fulfilled by the seller, you can't be sure of such fast delivery. Additionally, some of Amazon's Resellers are selling fake memory products, just like many any other sites (check Youtube before ordering anything from WISH). It is easy to modify the code that the computer sees and reports a larger size. Last year, I bought 5 supposed hard drives from Amazon which were priced too good to be true... and were. They were supposed to be mechanical drives but were just an old memory chip inside reporting many Terabytes. The read and write speed up to 32 GB were less than USB 1.1 standard. Writing any more than 32 Gb probably would have wrapped around and deleted previously written data.

" use the WATCH button located at top " Thanks, I just learned something, however I noticed that I had to be logged in for the WATCH button to be visible. If someone is not logged in initially, all they will see is the REPLY button, then be prompted to login and never see the WATCH button.

With Google Chrome, even with this small thumbnail, you just 1) right-click the image, 2) and select 'Search Image with Google Lens' from the resulting menu.

From the available responses, 3) you can find the one that seems to match, like the Leica III rangefinder.

Now that's something I can use! Thanks for the useful tool that I wish I knew about earlier.

This situation is totally possible.
Your device relies on 2 things working.
The WAN or Wide Area Network is where your Modem is connected to your ISP to provide Internet.
The LAN or Local Area Network is the wired or Wireless signal from your Router to your device (iPad).
You can have either working fine, but they both need to be working. You could be 5 feet away from your router and if the modem has lost connection with your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you won't have internet.
This is common and usually corrected by a reboot to your Modem / Router... until the next time.
If you have time, turn off the modem for 10 -15 min so the ISP will reset the next time you turn on the modem.
If it occurs frequently, call your ISP and have them check signal strength to your modem. Your modem may have a Globe like light that signifies when Internet is connected. Until that light is shining, your WiFi won't have internet.

If you don't like to fiddle, pass. If you do, the Canon printers have heads that are easy to remove and soak for days to potentially unclog. Don't operate it with plugged heads or low ink as Canon uses heat to spray ink ($500 head). Many old Canon printers die from burned out heads. Comparisons with Epson are wrong. Epson uses piezo to electro-mechanically spray the ink and are not hurt by operation with plugged or low ink. Unfortunately you can't remove the Epson heads easily for cleaning. So after hours of research and cleaning you may still choose to give it away to someone who likes to tinker.

AMEN, and I agree, that I find CHG_CANON's comments always informative and often with a good dose of tongue in cheek humor. Never caustic.
