I didn't have any problem.
I find it mostly straight forward, but they need to work on the photoshop plugin capabilities.

This is going to seem like cherry picking, but I'd loose the detail on the right side. It adds nothing. Other than that, good shot.

Fine Art Photography is all about your interpretation of a scene. Try from that perspective.

TBH, I have not used DPP and after looking at it several years ago, I uninstalled it. I will, perhaps, have time later today to install the current version and see if I can duplicate your experience. I hope you are correct since it would be nice to embed some things in a RAW file.

There are 2 versions of DPP. 3 works with the sx50, but canon doesn't, support it any longer. It's not available as a download. DPP3 worked very well. I currently use Faststone for my RAW conversion, and then an editor and Topaz. DPP seems to work better if there's no additional editing involved, but it doesn't seem to matter once you do any additional editing. Hope that's some help.

One closed by me. They still take orders and process pictures, but in a different store. It takes about a week for delivery to that store. The other store works the way it did, just a bit farther to get same day service

Since Picasa is being unsupported, I am considering using Fotor.
Picasa stores edits separate from the original picture. Are there any FREE editors that can use the Picasa original + edits? Do I have to export all Picasa pictures to another folder to preserve the edited version? Any suggestions as to a new FREE editor (not GIMP, I am not patient enough to learn.) I use Pentax K02 and Panasonic FZ70. Thanks for any help.

I've been playing with Faststone. Not as good as managing pics ad Picasa, but I like the editing better.

What are the components of a really great photograph. Common features that are necessary to be of value now and through time I can look for to judge, even if the subject matter isn't appealing to me.
This would help me see as others to judge the worth of my work.

I look at things a bit differently. To me, a good picture is one that you'd like to look at a second time. Everything else is polite conversation.

I use the G15. Great little "carry around" camera for street photos and evening shots.

I always shoot in both. I think all of those above are jpg. I really enjoy the in-camera HDR (wow, does that save some work). HDR is jpg only. Usually, not much PP. There are some great settings. "Kodachrome." Seldom do I need RAW to battle extremes but I'm glad it's there. I find myself mostly using HDR, Auto, P and A. The PP on my Mac is pretty basic but it's enough. The camera does the heavy lifting. The "Sports" setting is useful when the subject is on the move. If you use it, the 60fps video is crazy good. Stereo audio jack. Hot shoe.

They're very good pictures for JPEG. I usually shoot in raw, easy enough to do a fast conversion in FastStone or DPP for more demanding pics.

I usually leave the camera on shutter priority, in that there is very little versatility with the aperture. I'll have to play around with the HDR mode.

I tell friends that are "occasional picture takers" to save money and buy the SX50 Refurb direct from Canon. Watch for sales and "In Stock." However, for under $500, the SX60 is very good. Cameta has a kit bundle that has a big card, extra battery, flash and some stuff. Free ship. Pretty good deal. I don't tote lenses and still pack a strong wide angle and more zoom than I hardly ever use. 21mm - 1350mm. Low light? Okay. Very low light? Keep a tripod handy. Even a pocket tripod. Overall, I give this camera an B+ to A-.

Took these with my SX60. They hold up to download, pretty good:

Very nice. Did you take them in raw or jpeg?

Not to hijack the thread, but what are your impressions of the G16 after your trip to Costa Rica?

I use the sx60 for nature type shooting and the G15 or night and street photos. they complement each other nicely (even use the same battery).

By the way, some other differences between the canon and Nikon 600 are that you can easily put a filter on the Canon (polarizing, nutral density, etc), and the canon has 2 stop bracketing (better for HDRs)

I had a 50, upgraded to the 60. Liked the 50 better, but had given it to my wife and there's no going back on that.

Seems to me that the picture quality was generally better with the 50, and because the chip is smaller the camera responds faster.
