What makes you think it is an FL mount? It looks very much like the original FD breech lock mount to me. The FL mounts that I have seen had a different stop down lever design (round not flat), and did not have the open aperture signal pins etc. that are clearly visible in the picture of the lens mount in question.

Either way, these lenses need to be used in stop down metering mode on digital cameras I believe since the mechanical linkages no longer exist on the digital camera bodies or adapters.

It's been a long time since I sold off my old Canon manual focus equipment, so I may very well be wrong as you say. I do remember that the FL was called the breech mount lens and the "new" FD was called a bayonet mount. If I remember correctly, the FL had a ring or collar which was turned to mount the lens and the FD was twisted on to mount. Does that sound right to you?

Someone gave me this lens. Don't know anything about it -not even the mount style. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

Actually Canon FL. FD replaced it in 1971. FL lenses will work on the FD bodies but have to use stop down metering.

Years ago I had a hard cover coffee table book titled "Arizona Highways". It was primarily photos, with captions, of Native American pottery from Arizona. Excellent photography. I ended up donating it to the local college library. I wonder if it was published by the same company.

Arizona Highways Magazine is a publication of the Arizona Department of Highways. Always top quality photography.

All of this reminds me of an old adage which I try to keep in mind: Never wrestle with a pig. You will both get dirty and the pig likes it.

Ichy,
The Canon EOS Digital Solution Disk which came with your camera contains Digital Photo Professional which is the Canon tool for processing .cr2 (raw) files. It includes versions for both Windows and Mac.

Just purchased Canon 70D. Cannot download raw files to my PC (Windows 7 & PSE10) or daughter's MAC. Get this message: "The file is damaged or is in a format that cannot be included in Elements Organizer." Tried to download various Adobe updates, but no success.

I know. You're right. I have the manual. I'll try harder to find the answers there before coming here for help.
I do wanna say however that I appreciate all the folks helping me with my auto-focus problem.

I also have a T3i. I have found that for night sky photography, if you let the camera determine the exposure, it will try to get what it figures is a balanced exposure. In many cases, this will give you a blue sky at night when you want the sky to appear black. The solution for me has been to go fully manual.

I did some experimentation last July with the night sky between Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona.
Situation was elevation 6500 feet, clear sky. This far from civilization, there is no light pollution.
First of all, I used a very sturdy tripod and the RS-60E3 remote cable release to minimize vibration.
I shot manual focus on infinity. The camera was on manual, f4.0, 30 seconds, ISO 800.
I did shoot Raw and JPG, but I am attaching the JPG to show the image with no post processing.
Due to the long exposure, there is some minor streaking or elongation of the stars. I plan to experiment with higher ISOs and shorter exposures to reduce this effect.

While this is not exactly equivalent to your aurora challenge, it may be of help.

I know 2 ways to do it wirelessly, if your phone and PC are on the same wifi network.
First is Samsung's own app, Kies Air. This allows a user to transfer information and files between the Android device and the PC. The PC software is available for download on the Samsung website and the Android app is in the Google Play Store if not already on your phone.

The second is an app called AirDroid which does not require separate PC software. It connects using the Web Browser. It is a free app in the Google Play Store.

I hope this is helpful.

Here's some insight from an old guy who actually used this kind of equipment.

As was previously mentioned, the mount is the Praktica-Pentax M42 screw mount. It was used on 35mm SLRs from Contax, Praktica, Pentax, Mamiya-Sekor, Ricoh, Yashica, and others this old brain can't remember.

I bought a Mamiya-Sekor 1000DTL in Viet Nam in 1969 with the 50mm 1.4 lens. I used that one until around 1984 when I went with Canon.
