Thank you for your insightful post. This eerily describes my "learning ladder" to a tee!

The EN-EL15 should work, but there is also an EN-EL15a for cameras that use the EN-EL15.

Have used third party batteries (wasabi) for my D7000, but these will not work with my new D500. Are there any third party (read cheaper) EN-EL15 batteries that will work in the D500?

Thanks. Good video. No live view exposure indicator or live view histogram with the d7000. As a workaround for the exposure indicator you can exit out of live view and press the info button and have an exposure indicator in the back LCD along with other info.

How do I get to see the exposure indicator on the lcd in live view? Can't seem to do it on my d7000.

glasskey, thanks for your comments. I think you already know but still to remind and specially for those who do not know that when on Bulb mode, you press the cable release button the shutter will open and shall remain opened so for you are holding the button. When you think that you recorded what even you wanted on the frame, then take your finger off the button to close that shutter. Don't forget to keep the cardboard or any thing which is black or dark colored on the lens and only take it from the lens when you want to record any burst. You can record two three or four burst by the covering and uncovering the lens. How much time you want to give between each burst, it depends how bright or dark the burst it. Usually you will need two to three second time for each burst you want to record.

Really good. I'm going to try this technique next time. Especially like the last image.

Fotomagico is very robust. Easier to use than imovie for slideshows at least.

Try pressing T

the Done button only applies to some operations such as the Adjustment brush, if it is missing, it is likely the the Tools panel is switched off. Click the t key.

Having the same problem. I have to re-click the adjustment in the adjustment panel for it to take effect. Where has my "done" button gone?

Had similar probs on my D7100,i used a can of compressed air which i use on my Drum Scanner negs. Its now perfect .Dave

Never use canned compressed air on your sensor. It spews moisture and contaminants - could make things worse. I've had great success with "photographic solutions" swaps and their "Eclipse" (methanol) solution.
