Have used third party batteries (wasabi) for my D7000, but these will not work with my new D500. Are there any third party (read cheaper) EN-EL15 batteries that will work in the D500?
Wasabi is good with sushi. I'll stick with Nikon batteries for my cameras.

Thanks Jerry. Will check out the links.
My D3400 won't take a third party battery either!

Why take a chance. There are horror stories that the 3rd party batteries leak, explode, catch fire, etc - most of which is probably urban legend. The only downsides to a third party battery are diminished power, fewer shots per full charge, and shorter long-term battery life. OEM batteries are better, guaranteed to work, and on the outside chance there is a problem, you have recourse. In the big picture it's not worth the risk just to save $30.Unique Photo has OEM batteries for the D500 for $50. And it will always work, even through a firmware upgrade.
I guess I don't understand why someone is looking to save money on a battery when they buy the most expensive APS-C.

Haydon, use your imagination!
For example, maybe not much money left over after buying the expensive camera. Or the camera was received as a gift from a wealthy relative.

That's like saying I'm shopping for an affordable pacemaker. People receive $2000 cameras every day as gifts and then can't spend an extra $20 on an OEM battery? Or maybe he should ask the affluent relative for an extra battery that is of course if he can afford to make the phone call. Faulty logic even with an imagination. Thanks for the laugh rook :)
I know this isn't rocket science, but seriously.............. How many ways can we think of to screw-up our cameras?

I stick with Nikon batteries only I'm not risking my camera to save $5 or 10 dollars doesn't make sense spending $2000 on a camera only to save $5 for substandard power
Man, what a tough bunch! LOL!!!
