Agree with DRJ521. Good lens as well. Great for babies, portraits etc... But expensive. If you shoot a lot, is worth it.
Its called Zoom and spin the wheel! Manual will help as well! Just saying. Good articles about 580 and 600 from Syl Arena. Just google it! I have learned a lot from it as well! Let me know if you find this helpful!

24 70 is not a Macro lens. The 100 mm 2.8 L is a great lens, not just for macro but for portraits as well. If you have the $$$... Its worth it. I have it and I am verry pleased with it.
Try it with the flash on the camera...if it does not work... Well buy a good flash!
