I want to purchase a DSLR and would like your real-world experience/recommendation if you own any of the following cameras:

Canon: T3i, T4i, T5i, 60D, 7D, 6D, and your opinion of the new 70D.

Nikon: D5100, D5200, D7000, D7100, D600.

Pentax: K-x (if I can locate one), K-5, K-5II, K-5IIs.

Sony: A57, A58, A65, A77.

***NOTE: obviously there are a WIDE range of prices here as well as a WIDE range of camera capabilities. I AM NOT CONCERNED WITH THIS. Then, too, is the notion that I am not necessarily looking for a "bargain" nor am I necessarily looking for the most feature-packed, expensive one. I merely want your real-world experience with any of these cameras and why you feel it would be a good purchase. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dang BB you need to narrow your list down a little on your own. You want a review of 20 different cameras? What about the several hundred lens available for these cameras? Your question is just too broad and the replies you receive will be dependent on what system the poster uses as that will be the best! :D I use Canon so of course that is the best. :) TNmike

What do you like to photograph?
What equipment do you already own?
How many photographs a year do you take?
What will you be wanting to do with your pics?
Webpage? Facebook?
Do you print them?
What size?

The best advice i found in the which one subject. Take the hands on approach see which one feels good is comfortable to operate, navigate etc.

These cameras all have individual strong points and without knowing what you will be photographing there is no way to give you a recommendation that will have any validity.

Agree, if you will answer these questions we can be much more helpful in at least narrowing your list.

I've been using a Nikon D5100 for about a year and a half, now. I'm extremely pleased with image quality, and the articulated LED screen, but it has no focus-motor in the body, so each lens must have its own motor, thus limiting lens choice somewhat.

I guess if it were time to replace it (it's not) I would go to the D7000 or D7100, but I'd miss the articulated screen feature.

Just my thoughts...no one can really choose a camera for you. The "hands on" approach suggested earlier is probably the best way to go!

Once You've answered these question, you can then narrow your choices down, by comparing features & specifications & price.

Here is a good place to go to compare cameras side by side:

in the end you have to do the work yourself.decide what you need in a camera.you will most likely end up buying one a little above your needs. you will never cover all your bases, so there will be a lot of making do with what you have. all the brands will have a camera that will meet your needs,.so start with a brand and go from there.

I think I might go like this:

What are my photographic needs/wants?

Which brand has the best complement of professional grade glass?

Which model will meet my needs and fits my hands ergonomically? (Here you'll need to visit a brick and mortar shop).

Once you choose, you'll learn the secret handshake and develop a healthy scorn for all of the users who made the "wrong choice".

;)

You knocked me out with this part of your comments: "Once you choose, you'll learn the secret handshake and develop a healthy scorn for all of the users who made the "wrong choice"."

For my first DSLR, after tons of research, many things led me to purchasing the T3i a couple of weeks ago. I finalized my decision after a long, very informative talk with one of the support people and J&H. I love it!!

TNMike, did I say I wanted a review? Let ME worry about narrowing down the list, please! What I asked for, if you care to re-read my post, is your own real-world experience IF YOU OWN ONE OF THE LISTED CAMERAS. I really would like your opinion if you have one of them.
