Hi, have you considered a Microsoft surface? They have a USB port you can attach an external hard drive to. I attach a card reader to the tablet, copy the contents to a file on the Windows desktop, copy this to the external hard drive then delete the file on the desktop. A 64Gb Surface can take an almost full 64Gb memory card. Of course you can have more than 1 external drive for redundancy.
Works a treat for me as it is quick and uses a system (Windows) that is familiar to me.
Good luck. Tony

I have just purchased my first Macbook Pro and so far love it!
I find it just as easy as the PC I have had over the years.
I do have a question; I would like to be able to import my outlook contacts to the mac. Can one of you computer wizards help an old guy out here?

Many thanks in advance,

Joe

Joe,
I assume you are using Outlook on the Mac. If you have Office 365 (for earlier versions the process may differ) on your PC, choose File>Options>Advanced>Export>Export to a file. Click Next and choose whether you want to CSV or PST file. You will get to choose what you want to export. Export it to a thumb-drive or some other medium, then use whatever import function Outlook offers on the Mac. I have done this successfully several times from PC to PC, but I've never tried it with a Mac. Good luck!
Bill

I subscribe to Photoshop CC and I have a Surface Pro 3.
Can I use CC with the Surface pro when traveling?

I too have CC and a Surface Pro 3, which has traveled with me to Israel, Jordan and the UK. The program and the SP3 work well together. I also have a small Wacom tablet because the Surface screen-and-pen combination did not work for selecting/editing for me. The selections were not accurate. I would recommend a small Wacom tablet as it fits neatly in the Surface case and can be used wirelessly (with an adapter).

My photography group is planning a photo trip to Death Valley. The place is huge and I have been looking for a place to start from. Also where to stay. Some will want better accommodations and some lesser. Is there a place that can suit both? All ideas and help are very much appreciated. Also would like to know where to visit for some good views and photography. Thanks.

You probably already know this, but from the NPS web site:

Jerry, I have always been told that one should never mess with the print head, but when I had a similar problem it came down to throwing my Canon printer in the trash or giving the print-head cleaning a try. A quick search on Google got me several videos on how to remove and clean a variety of Canon print heads. Took a full day, lots of soaking and drying time, but the printer works like new. Sorry I don't remember the video source, but should be easy to find. My printer is an MG6120.

I've worn trifocals for years and am considering the new generation of progressive eyeglass lenses. Anyone have experience with these new eyeglass lenses and if so, how do they affect viewing through the lens? Should add that I have adapted to the difficulties associated with trifocals, but would like an improvement if anyone can attest.... 8-)

I have worn trifocals for about 40 years. About 20 years ago i tried the progressive lenses and found that looking straight ahead they were wonderful, but my peripheral vision was blurry, making driving difficult. I traded them in for new trifocals within a week. But from others' attestations here, maybe they have been improved. I like the idea of getting them somewhere where you can return them. I recently had cataract surgery and had a bad reaction to the post-surgery drops, and am currently nearly blind in the eye that was supposed to be fixed. I am assured that in a few months all will be well, but it has given me a greater appreciation for binocular vision, and vision in general.

I had cataract surgery 11 year ago. You will not believe the amazing difference it will make. Now though, 11 years later, I think I need it again. Have to see the eye doc later this month to see what he thinks. I would not hesitate to do it again. My far sight was terrific but I still had to wear specs for reading.

I am right-eye dominant and have a cataract in that eye which is scheduled to be removed in early July. I have always used my right eye with my cameras, but am training myself to shoot left-eyed as I am going on a six week trip through the Baltic and North Seas. leaving Friday. About a year ago I completely lost the ability to focus with my right eye. I have great hopes for this cataract surgery, and your story inspires me. I have worn bifocals for nearly 50 years and trifocals for about 35 years and have had no trouble adjusting. Thanks

Wonderful set of pictures. I was born in Pittsburgh in 1948 and still live here in Regent Square. Don't ever want to move. Thanks for sharing the link.

Yeah... I was looking at trying some time-lapse stuff with it, but as far as I can see, that would require (probably) 1 frame per second constantly over a long period of time. It doesn't appear that it would be able to do that. It might still work with longer intervals, but that remains for some experimentation later on.

Can I ask what SD card you were using. I have no empirical evidence -- i.e. I've never tested it -- but I feel I get faster and more sustained bursts using an Extreme card than I do with an Ultra. Maybe the recovery rate would be better using the Extreme card for your time-lapse?

Wonder how many recalls for OTHER cameras get talked about as much as this one? Maybe it is just that people want to put a damper on the popularity??

Even before I heard about the recall I had an email from Canon telling me that they had determined that my SX50's serial number indicated it would not be part of the recall and that I should have no concern. I appreciate that they are on top of things. My assumption is that those who have serial numbers that ARE affected were similarly notified and told what steps to take. I always register with Canon when I buy (cameras and printers) and have never been disappointed with them. They have earned my "brand loyalty."

Thanks Rongnongno. Can you tell me how to do regenerate thumbnails?

It turns out the problem was in the Bridge cache. I found this out by trial and error. I purged the whole cache and the problem went away. Thanks for the help.

Regenerate the thumbnails.

Adding keyword modify the image meta data. The problem likely lies in the windows codecs more than anything else as I use the same software and do not experience this. 'My' codecs are to date and oh, yeah, I use windows 7 as I will not be caught dead with that crappy 8.x thingy.

Note: You are right about the forum choice as this is not a PP question but a software one.

Debated whether to post this here or in the PP forum and decided there are more people here so i'm like to get more answers.

While working in Bridge CC today attaching keywords to pictures, all of a sudden all of my tiff and psd file Bridge thumbnails became blurry. They were fine when I opened them in Photoshop CC. My cr2 files are sharp as a tack in Bridge -- only the psd and tiff have been affected. Did I accidentally change a setting? If so, I can't figure out what it was.

I still have Bridge CS6 on my computer, so i opened it and the same thing was happening there.

I'm using Windows 8.1.

Any ideas?
