I have just purchased my first Macbook Pro and so far love it!
I find it just as easy as the PC I have had over the years.
I do have a question; I would like to be able to import my outlook contacts to the mac. Can one of you computer wizards help an old guy out here?

Many thanks in advance,

Joe

Joe,
I assume you are using Outlook on the Mac. If you have Office 365 (for earlier versions the process may differ) on your PC, choose File>Options>Advanced>Export>Export to a file. Click Next and choose whether you want to CSV or PST file. You will get to choose what you want to export. Export it to a thumb-drive or some other medium, then use whatever import function Outlook offers on the Mac. I have done this successfully several times from PC to PC, but I've never tried it with a Mac. Good luck!

Thank you, but I don't have Outlook on the mac. I thought there was a way to move contacts from outlook without installing Office on the Mac.
If not, will have to purchase the Office program for the Mac.
I do appreciate your help though,

Joe

No, I wasn't kidding! If I knew how, I would not have asked.

Joe, br I assume you are using Outlook on the Mac.... (show quote)

This is what I had to do to move my contacts out of Outlook into a different email program. It worked. (I will say out of frustration, I have entered each one 'manually' at other times in the past. If all else fails, you can just do that, if you don't have too many. Which turned out to be a good way to purge the 'dead weight'. :)

Thanks everyone for your help on this. It looks like I will have to install Office on the mac and go from there, or copy each individually. Bummer there!
I will still use my windows desktop and the mac will be for photos only and email.

I have not tried this with the newer versions of Outlook nor OS X Contacts. Try selecting all of the contacts in Outlook, then export as vcf file(s). Import to OS X Contacts program via File/Import. In prior versions it worked well for all of the set fields, but did not know where to place any free floating data if you have any. VCF is supposed to be a standards based contacts format, though both Microsoft and Apple seem to have applied their own twists to it.
