I don't think I have any Anscochrome slides. Most of them were either Kodachrome or Ektachrome. The Kodachrome held up pretty well. The Ektachrome faded towards blue or green. As I recall, the fading was noticeable pretty soon, like maybe in 10 years. I still have some of them and they haven't faded further.

Of course if the slides were exposed to light it would increase the rate of fading. I mean continuous light, not an occasional pass through a projector (although too many slide shows would do the job).

Your correct on the Ektachrome. I have about 1500 slides some ekta and some Kodachrome. Both were not stored we'll probably been in the attic for the last 40 years or so. The Kodachrome slides are actually in pretty good shape just dusty and some mold so I will have to clean them as well. The Ektachrome ones are all like the one I posted pretty muck some worst than others. Cool thing is my father in law still has the camera!!!!!!

B/W is the best solution. No more worries about colour balance. Have done hundreds just like this.

For some of them I agree with you B/W but some are not as bad as the one I posted. Plus these are not mine they are for my in laws so I'll try my best to fix some and B/W the ones I can't fix. Thanks for you input

I have no idea if you consider this an improvement or not, but to duplicate it in Photoshop-

Create a Levels Adjustment Layer w/settings:

Red - 157, 1.0, 255
Grn - 0, 0.96, 230
Blu - 85, 1.0, 199
Layer Opacity 100%

Create a curves adjustment layer w/settings:

Red - Input 174, Output 255
Grn - Input 198, Output 255
Blu - Input 201, Output 255
Layer Opacity 40%

Yes much better and thanks for the info. I have been trying in aperture but couldn't it this close. After reading a bunch on this I know I can't duplicate the original pics but if I can get this close its better than nothing. I'm gonna have to break down and get PS do do it though. Thanks again Rick

Hello hoggers. I have been away for awhile so I hope all is well for everyone. I have been ask by my father in law to convert his old slides to digital. I did some research and purchased the wolverine F2D which works as I expected. My issue is a large portion of the slides have a pink/red tint to them due to being store in an attic for god knows how long. The wolverine does some adjustments such as EV and RGB but it is limited. I am trying some adjustments in aperture also but basically end up with B/W as the best adjustment. Any help or advise is deeply appreciated in advance. I have attached one of the pics after converting

Merry Christmas

When ever I am outside with my camera the Blue Jays keep their
distance. I can rarely get a shot of them. I walked out the other day to one bathing. I did try to adjust in aperture to brighten up the pics some so they may be a little off. Not teal good at that yet. All hand held with my t4 and new 150-600 Tamron lens.

I need a bath hope no one is watching

I love happy endings Andrew. That particular situation didn't work out so well on this end. My mother and both of her parents passed from cancer and Mom's was so far along by the time she was diagnosed, that there was only time for one chemo treatment. To put things in a perspective, we had a theory that she knew but didn't want to go down the same path as her parents.

So enjoy every minute that you have left and celebrate life at every opportunity.

First Mike I would like to say that i am sorry for your loss. I lost my mom to cancer about 15 years ago so I know how you feel. There is a helpless feeling when cancer is diagnosed because it takes so many lives everyday. It is usually found late and the treatment can be worst than the cancer itself, but if you want to live you really have no choice. I am (so far one of the lucky ones) to survive the treatment, and be able to live on. It has changed my outlook on life and how I see things. I watched people with the same cancer I had, go through a much rougher time than myself due to it was caught much later. I am one lucky and bless man. People tell me how strong I am for making it through this, but I tell them I am nothing without the support I had from my wife and family. If not for my lovely wife I would not be here today. To watch her suffer watching me suffer was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. So to all , hug your love ones daily. Let them know what they mean to you because you never know when your time has come. My wife says I was close to death, I say I was starting to live.

I thought I liked photography before , now it is a way for me to save every moment. People say once they got a camera they see the light different, or they see things different, then before. I would agree, but now I say, since I have fought cancer I see life differently. I read somewhere a saying that it is not how long you live life , but how well you live it!!!

To all those who have or are currently supporting someone with cancer or any other sickness GOD BLESS YOU!! For those fighting , keep fighting you are in my prayers.

Welcome back wannabe! Sorry you had to deal with the cancer but so happy you've come out on this side with such a great attitude. As you said, any day you wake up is a good day regardless of what else may happen :)

Your photos are probably going to cost me some $$$ in the next month or two ... I've been debating about buying the Tamron, everybody who has one seems to like it and the photos I've seen are great ... but your shots are the proverbial straw. Thanks a lot ... I'll find some way to get back at you :):):)
