It's too bad. He was a sharp young man. I think he was elected to a city council while still in high school. But somewhere his vision changed. A shame.

This appears to possibly be a rupturing milkweed seed pod (or similar), exposing both seeds and cottony fiber "parachutes" to the wind.

Yeah, film cameras that one could easily pick up for $10-15 a decade ago now cost 5x as much, and sometimes significantly more, depending on the camera's rarity or historical significance. Related accessories are going up as well. I really think this is mostly because of collectors, not users. The same price increase is happening with old manual lenses too, although this has likely more to do with the emerging popularity of converting them to digital mirrorless cameras.

Probably just a matter of time until the consumer plastic point-and-shoot cameras from the 1980's and 90's will also become serious collectibles. For now, you can still find these at flea markets and garage sales for pocket change.

I just bought 2 new lenses and I managed to get them into the house & hidden while my husband was visiting his sister. I put the 24-70/2.8 on my camera right away. It is a "little" bigger than the 18-140 I had on the camera but I don't think he'll actually notice. BUT, how will I explain that big 70-200/2.8 when I pull it out & put it on the camera? He WILL notice that! Birthday present? Right now, I'm trying to talk him into a trip to Ireland! Then I can justify the lenses!!?!!!?

Say what men have said since the start of time, "You just noticing this? I've had this for ages. I'm going to have to get an updated version on of these days."

Or - open the Win 7 CALCULATOR, choose DATE CALCULATION from the VIEW tab, enter any 2 dates and click CALCULATE. You'll get years, months & days; and days between the 2 dates - but not all the other handy facts. Then you can multiply that number of days by 23 to determine the number of hours - then multiply by 60 to get the number of minutes - and again by 60 to determine the number of seconds. . . but, you'll also need to consider the exact time at the beginning and the exact time of the calculation - for best accuracy, of course.

Excuse me, I did buy photoshop, and I am on line studying the procedures to "mimick" the affect. Do you have a problem with asking a question for alternatives?

Look, if you want to be a dick, be a dick, that is of coarse your right. But from my perspective, you are acting like a big one. Remind me to ignore any future posts from you. Of coarse, using a polarizing filter was the right solution in the first place. OK, I didn't. Photoshop manipulations to apply a "mimic" of the affect are somewhat convoluted, there are other options, as demonstrated in Aperture. Simple question, others have offered a constructive answer. You chose not to. Also, many hide behind behind anachronisms, to demonstrate that the think they know more than others. Spell it out for the benefit of those who may not be so superlative as you, which is a trait that I hope to never harbor.

I still like manual focus a lot too. . .
. . . but I am missing the little focussing "crosshairs" we used to have.

Is it safe to assume this is something that can't be had with digital cameras?
Is there anything else that functions about the same ? (I use the viewfinder only)
Thanks,
Inga

I took someone elses post you were using a 5D II. Here's a link to one of the many available on eBay. They are available for just about all Canon EOS units, most single split but some are double.
They are not hard to install but having a pro do it shouldn't be too expensive and would be less wear on the nerves. They are, imho, fantastic.

The other thing I appreciate about those movies is that the scenes were created by people who understood lighting and exposure. Now, it's who can produce the spiffiest computer effect.
