I dressed my daughter in her Halloween costume in the bathroom at McDonald's. I like the shot but not the background. How can I make it disappear?

I have a Kodak easy share digital camera and an iphone4. I don't edit my photos either. I'm a completely ammature photographer and proud mama. I'm wondering what equipment and editing software is best to improve my shots.
