How do I make the background disappear?

I dressed my daughter in her Halloween costume in the bathroom at McDonald's. I like the shot but not the background. How can I make it disappear?

Why not make life easier on yourself and re-dress her in the outfit and retake the picture with not only a nicer background but also better lighting and a faster shutter speed.

If you have Photoshop, you can use the quick select tool and drop the image into another background. Here's a useful tutorial:

Yes, use the very effective 'shoot it again' filter. ;-)
I was going to say, make it available at a decent size and I bet you'd have half a dozen different takes before you knew it, but it is actuall not very sharp and the lighting is not the best, so definitely tke it again. Get down to here level as well, and look for some lateral lighting from a window perhaps.
